I just bought the tr50 11 Jules. I like the option of so many types of projectiles that can be used. As you know they are also cheaper. The guns you show are sleeker looking and I do like they hold more rounds. Thanks for what you do. Super informative and fun

The Alpha it is. Another great feature is that it seems that it does not need to be modified to increase the power. For me that makes it a total no brainer. I have a HDS .68 (16 Joule) Since it only holds two rounds at a time, it's loaded with something a little bit more spicy. (Less than lethal - self defense only) Can't wait to see the BB version. Nice work.

I have the HDS.68 got around 28/30 joules and use the devastators I got from France and the shotgun shells you can put 12 6mm bb in great for home defense especially with the lawless country I live in now

Hey I just got my bravo and you don’t smack the bottom at all you push very hard till it’s flush trust me and try it hitting it is unreliable and only puts a small hole in the co2 and takes time to recharge just push it hard and flat

Hello Maestro! Sorry for such late reply! I think the Bravo’s trigger may be a bit stiffer than the Alfa. But I need to shoot them a few more times to be able to better compare and to give them the chance to loosen up a bit… I’ll keep you posted! I believe the Alpha has a longer barrel which will produce greater muzzle energy if all other factors are equal. The difference is much larger than I would expect, though.

To keep the coconuts in place, get a small ring of 2 inch PVC pipe to place the coconut on,, and just get a cheap bar clamp to hold it down. It'll probably have to be pretty close to the edge of the table for this to work, but it's an option.

I have both the Alpha and the Bravo. The Bravo has a problem when 6 balls are loaded. The spring-loaded follower which pushes the balls together gets bumped when firing the first shot into the locked position to the far right making the balls fall out of the filler hole. I only load 5 balls to make it work.

Mate, that’s a great question! As I always say, the only constancy with airguns is their inconsistency! Every gun I shoot, often varies power from video to video. In this case the Bravo shot at 18 joules in the first video and 13 joules in this one. Just baffling! I need to shoot these more to get a better idea…

It is! Very strange! The first video I made with the Bravo, a few weeks before, the Bravo shot at 18 joules. In this video it shot at 13 joules. And I haven’t done anything to it in the meantime 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’ll be doing more tests in the future, hope to get to the bottom of it…

I agree! Very strange! Last time it shot at 18 joules, this time at 13! Just a few weeks a part… will look into it. I hadn’t realized the drop was that big, during the filming. Hi Mike, absolutely. If you don’t pierce the cartridge, it will remain sealed in the cartridge for years. Until you bump the bottom. Once you puncture it, I suggest to release the CO2 within weeks. Lesser the pressure on the seals, the longer they’ll last.

Thanks again, my friend! You know… I’ve contacted Byrna several times - they never got back to me. I’m not particularly keen on spending all that money on a gun that only shoots round projectiles. I prefer revolvers simply because of the variety of ammo they offer. If Byrna wants to send me one, I’ll be more than happy to test it and make videos about it :)

Hello again from the lower Florida Keys. I really liked the Alfa performance. I have one with no issues at all. The Bravo looks cool and is made of metal, but it doesn't really grab me like the Alfa. I can't justify more money for 1 less shot. I think something is wrong with the Bravo for there to be that much difference in performance. As always, great video.

Honestly I never checked the Amazon reviews honestly, but now that you mention I had a look and saw there are only a few reviews, around 70% positive and 30% negative. I think those costumers should call Amazon, which is usually very good at taking care of these things. I don’t want to comment on issues I don’t know about. The ones I have so far work fine. Hi Kelvin, my favorite CO2 less lethal is the HDR 68 (16 joules). I have a whole channel full of reasons :) But with the options you gave, I would go for the Mercury Rise , simply because in the LTLs you can only load round balls. While for the revolver, in terms of ammo, the sky is the limit. That said, the Alfa has been around much longer and has proven to be a good gun. The Bravo is quite new and it’s less tested… Best of luck!

Miami, do you have the new Mercury MUB .50 pistol, and if you don't, can you call them and get a free one because you did do 2 videos demostrating the TR68, but the MUB .50 seems equal to the Alpha, but it's only $114 and has external velocity adjustment.

My understanding is that both the Alfa & Bravo come in 18, 12 & 7.5 joule versions. Is it possible that you got the 18 joule Alfa but the 12 joule Bravo version? Jon Reynolds at Alternate Arms/Comprehensive Computer Solutions channel seemed to get equal results from both the Alfa & Bravo. I'm waiting ti see what the new LTL Charlie, which was introduced at Shot Show 2024, will be like. Its supposed to be an updated pistol with a front loading 5 or 6 shot magazine.

How do you think this would do in defense of dogs? I have issue with loose and feral dogs in our area and I need something when I go for a bike ride. I am told pepper spray won't effect a feral dog. I don't necessarily want to kill a dog, and we travel a lot so I don't want to deal with a carry permit. Do you think this would scare off a dog? Rubber balls or Pepper Balls ?

I love dogs more than anything, so I would recommend some light weight, soft rubber balls. Between the sound of the gun and the sting of the ball, I’m pretty sure the dog will turn around and run in the opposite direction. Shoot from as far as possible…

La Alfa col suo design da beretta 92 e tutti quei finti selettori non mi è mai piaciuta esteticamente, sembra una di quelle repliche giocattolo da softair...ma la Bravo è un bel ferro, massiccio, una vera arma, anche se quelle scanalature verticali larghe che fanno da grip per lo scarrello, sapendo che non scarrella, mi fanno un po' ornamento inutile. Come design, per dire, è bellissima la HDP 50, molto glock-style dalla linea pulita... Intro sempre superlative!! 👌👌

This is just my opinion. I see how much fun using extra hard projectiles at high joules settings can be. Seems like lots of fun to wreck plywood, coconuts, watermelons, etc. However, for home defense purposes, that ammunition, at those settings, goes into dangerous territory. The less-than-lethal guns are supposed to inflict pain and scare away the intruder not seriously injure or kill them (think of an 18-joule or higher aluminum pellet to the sternum or forehead). And yes, I know that intruders in your house should get whatever is coming to them but, if that's the case, might as well get a real gun. I think that one advantage of the less-than-lethal is that people would not (or should not) hesitate to use them, while a real gun will always make people hesitate. Again, I'm not criticizing your testing or your channel, which is a fountain of knowledge. Just thinking about how I would use these tools.

Hi my friend, thanks a lot and you make a very good point. The line between lethal and non-lethal can be quite thin at times. You do have to keep in count heavy clothing, helmet wearing and high adrenaline/drugs factors - which if confronted with, you would probably feel more comfortable with stronger ammo and more power in your gun. If the guy walks in flip flops and a t-shirt, well then rubber-steel balls at 11j will do it. Hahaha! All this to say that the scenarios are infinite. I like to test the limits of these things and the effects they have on objects which help gage their power. I am however stepping away from modified guns and sticking to factory made. Again thank you!

dont put so much silicone spray or what u put on the seals its not recommended as it gets thru the valve and sprays in the barrel making it inaccurate, when the seals are going just replace them

Thanks for this. You’re right - in fact one of the oils I recently used, said to put only one drop per (something like) 700 shots. But because I change cartridge before every test, I go through a dozen at least in a very short amount of time, often releasing half of the CO2 at once. I figured I’d lube those seals a little more.

Sorry for coming on late, my friend. Having huge issues as you know. Well, I have to say bravo to the Alpha, which is the clear winner here. I’m glad, as I am very biased. I literally hate any firearm that resembles a Glock. They are the most ugly firearm made. They look like they came of a Mattel Toy Factory. The Alpha, although the least expensive, looks like a real gun, the beautiful Italian Beretta. The Italians know how to make firearms. Again, sorry for being late to watch your video. Its odd they didnt perform the same as both are rated at 18J and both fire at 500fps according to the manufacturer. The only difference is one is all metal and the other has one more shot. Internally they are exactly the same. There is definitely something broken on the Bravo and you might want to get that checked out by the manufacturer.

Good point. But not all brands base their guns in “joules” - like Umarex does. These are both standard, out of the box versions :) Mahalo!

I like them both. I already know the pellet version is going to be bad ass. Even though the bravo didn't perform as well as the alpha, I noticed it still has great power. Every time it hit the coconut it did damage and pushed the branch backwards. That's some power♠️1

It’s baffling! Same exact gun. The only thing I did with it, between these two videos, was the one where I shot ONE arrow (muzzle-loaded) followed by shooting the balls. I seriously doubt that’s what did it. I didn’t realize the drop was so big compared to the other video - till the editing. Otherwise I would’ve addressed it better! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Desde 🇵🇹 Portugal 🇵🇹 👍 Sinceramente fiquei um pouco desiludido com a prestação da LTL Bravo 1.50, ou de passou algo de estranho pois já vi em outros testes a pistola LTL Bravo com melhores prestações, em comparação das pistolas LTL Alfa com a LTL Bravo, a LTL Alfa 1.50 parece mais um brinquedo, muito plástico, um pouco grande e a sua qualidade de construção deixa um pouco a desejar, tanto que na comunidade, fóruns, a bastantes queixas e chamadas de atenção para a maneira que se arma a botija de CO2, pena a LTL ter continuado com o mesmo sistema na (nova) LTL Bravo 1.50 , já que segundo custa é propício a futuras fugas de ar.... Eu devido mais a qualidade de construção e acho mais bonita, menos com aspecto de brinquedo se compra-se era a (nova) LTL Bravo 1.50, mas parece que se quero potência então tenho que ir para a velha escola 🚸 LTL Alfa 1.50 que cá na Europa é vendida a vir de fábrica com 18 Joules.... Mas a tanta gente principalmente de França a falar mal da LTL que se calhar melhor mesmo ficar pela credibilidade da Umarex... 💪

tell your wife if she would have shot that prowler with one of my 38 to 42 joules modded hdp.50's , the prowler would still be there so he could be dealt with you and the POLICE lol !!! things needed for the build , HDP .50 , all homedefence mod parts like , power valve pin , 2 piece tuning barrel , a sniper barrel extension, a silicone handle sleeve for grip , a push button knob for easy piercing and co2 removal , real fast and easy thats needed in certain conditions , and a complete lubing job to the internals , modded springs , recondition certain parts to make em better , etc.etc.etc. !!! as long as you stick with 12 gram co2 ,you will have a marker that will last decades probably , and please dont run over it with a vehicle like they do with things you often see on info-mercials lol !!! its time you have something you can truly defend you and your family with my friend . now on your .68 , lets make sure you got the best power valve pin from homedefence24 and put you a 2 piece tuning barrel on it . if you wanted to do it yourself , i would be glad to do a conference call with you and help you through doing it yourself ,that would be real fun !!! .... its pretty easy if you know the tricks of the trade lol !!! i only get 38.2 joules with the HDR.68 thats with a 2 piece tuning barrel , it will be more when i get another barrel ext.for it , but im happy with it;s performance , its super loud ,well all of them are now , and not so back yard friendly any longer lol !!! these are all true joules i profess bud , not hyped up imaginary fps that some others claim . according to all the different testing i do , its all the not "non" , but ,,, "less than lethal power " you will ever need to get the job done in a safer way of course !!! ... AS ALWAYS < I ENJOYED THE SHOW MY AWESOME BROTHER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

You never address why the bravo performed so much worse than you other video seems like something isn’t right mine shoots over 20 joules and has for over a year of owning it yours went from 19joules I’m one video to 13 in this one ????

To be honest I didn’t have in mind the numbers it had gotten in the previous video, to compare. I could’ve indeed done my homework better. Fact is, you can shoot these guns 10 different times and get 10 different results. Depending on temperature, how well did the CO2 cartridge pierce itself, etc. I would have to rewatch it, but were they the same projectiles? Just recently someone told me they saw a video “HDR 50 vs Torpedo Revolver” on another channel and the results in that video were the exact opposite as mine 🤷🏻‍♂️ go figure It’s been a while since I’ve shot my LTLs, I need to pick them up again and do some testing, your not the first person to raise the issue.
