It never ceases to amaze me how people can neglect to properly maintain a vehicle that they expect and rely on to get them where they want to go in a "safe and trouble free manner" . Only yesterday whilst travelling down the M5 motorway as far as Worcester on my journey to Hereford, I saw two cars broken down on the hard shoulder with the bonnet up, both were less than six years old. Personally I find it very therapeutic to service and maintain my vehicles to exacting standards, the very last place I would wish to be stranded is on the side of a motorway. Anyway, keep up the good work, I look forward to the next installment. DJ in the U.K.

I broke down on the M5 once in my Dad's near new Hilux. Couldn't work out why it was losing power and shuddering. When I pulled over I found that the drain plug had come out of the gearbox and it was in the process of seizing solid. Made for a long day. Cheers

Doesn't even mention it these days, maybe it's a crock of shit and has been sold on.

There will be an update soon. The problem with it is I don't know what I'm doing and all the beardy weirdy Morris Minor experts on the Internet were pretty tiresome to listen to.

@@Badgertronix I was just baiting you to respond. Don't mind the anoraks, do it your way. I have the same here in Ireland with know all's in my club who have all the skills/ equipment but they'd never invite me over to learn, just happy to criticise. Then there are those who are just odd/eccentric... Atleast you don't have the rampant rust we have so whatever you do will last longer than it would here. 🙂👍🇮🇪

I nearly bought one of those new in around 2001, I was put off by the Alfa horror stories, but yours seems to have survived the neglect well!
@Badgertronix3 жыл бұрын
Alfa nightmares always a concern, but this was cheap and scrappable if it tuns into a headache! It appears to mostly be in decent shape now I've been through it. Cheers

Someone who was more neglectful of cars than my sister. How is that possible. 😦

This was their pride an joy weekend car apparently. They had definitely spent some money on it at some point with a clutch, wheel bearing, timing belt and variator. Why not change the darn oil too? 🤷♂️

My wife drives a 2008 Acura TSX. Every oil change I turkey baste the brake fluid reservoir and the power steering reservoir. Replace with fresh. I figure I’m keeping enough new in there that I’m keeping it in good shape.
@Badgertronix3 жыл бұрын
Good plan, although it would probably help to bleed the brakes and clear the old fluid from the lines and hoses every couple of years. Cheers

On the 2L engine, at these kms, you'd better replace the rod bearings. Known defect of this motor (not the TS in general, only the 2L).

The music from 13:26 is a version of the theme music from another KZbin channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4uvhIamrZWGgMk Good taste !

If it's got 200k on the clock, and it's been serviced at 66k, 132k and 198k, that's regular servicing.
@Badgertronix3 жыл бұрын
True. Same could be said about 'one careful owner statements'. It's the 6 not so careful owners you need to worry about
