My Alfa Romeo 4C needed a battery replacement, so I called the Automobile Association to come to my home and change it over. They kindly allowed me to film the process.

Hi John. Just want to say thanks for this video. I'd never have thought of calling the AA to replace the battery, but I did after seeing this. Now, I've not taken the car out yet, so I can't say if the subject problem is fixed but the AA chap did say that all Alfa cars he sees with similar electronics suffer failure issues as their batteries age. The thing I don't get is that our favourite workshop knew that my 9 years old battery was only at 60% after a one hour motorway drive taking it up there. They should never have given me the car back without a new battery in it. It's not like they don't know about these failures. Honestly, I cannot understand it.

John, you were a great data point in my purchasing a 4c (2yrs., 6 mos now) and I appreciate your insights and enthusiasm (have those tire pressure caps, thanks!). My grey spider was sitting on a dealer lot in Central Massachusetts for a year and a half when I bought it in early 2018, a greatly underappreciated vehicle! I am sorry to hear of your recent issues with your 4c transmission (So far I have only had a dead battery... in the tire pressure sensor! ... and that stupid red clip that holds up the boot rod broke in the brutal, cold (New) England winter... and new rear tires after 9k miles 8-) (But I did overheat my dual clutch once in Boston traffic... always step on the brake to go to neutral! I change oil every 5k miles!) Enjoyed the English auto club guy competence...not the same in the US! but get some cleaner and polish that engine cover 😁!!!

Thanks for this! Dropped second and got same malfunction error while driving, was scared it was the transmission but hoping its the battery! Seems quite simple!

In terms of the process it may not be - deending on the age of the car of course. However the location of the ODB port, battery cover etc... is unique to the 4C. Thanks for watching.
