Two snakes coiled around and gripped by Garuda's hooves symbolize that two countries have been defeated and we have succeeded in winning independence from the invaders. Two snakes gripped by Garuda are in the reliefs of the Sukuh Temple, Gunung Lawu, Central Java. The story tells of Garuda struggling to find Tirta Amerta to free his mother (Dewi Winata) from slavery to the snake people. Indonesia and Garuda have the same spirit, namely wanting to liberate the Mother (Motherland) from slavery/colonialism. Fun fact! Nusantara is an archipelago in southeast asia. Old Nusantara it's not just Indonesia. It covers several country (this time), Malaysia, Brunei, Phillipines, Singapore, South Thailand, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, East Timor, Papua News Guinea, North Solomon, and Torres Strait Islander. In the colonial time along ago, it was called Dutch East Indies by them. But the name nusantara comes from the conqueror, namely the Majapahit kingdom that located on the island of Java (Indonesia). This is the true story of the mythological "Garuda" which is the symbol of the Republic of Indonesia. This is a story that actually tells the origins of Garuda itself, whose name is Garuda, which is the ride of the God Vishnu in Hindu mythology. In ancient times people rode Garudeya or Garuda to protect the archipelago which became the official symbol or official symbol of the Indonesian state. My country used to be called NUSANTARA Nusa=island and Antara...a country which has a large territory with thousands of islands. However, during the Imperialist era, several of these regions separated and formed new countries... there were more or less 3 to 4 countries, at the same time changing the name of the archipelago to Dutch East Indies... and after a long process, our ancestors changed it to INDONESIA. . If there is similarities between Philippines and Indonesia, it's not because the Philippines have influenced in Indonesia. The fact is Indonesia and Philippines is under the same region of kingdom before (Majapahit) in the area called Nusantara, along with some others southeast asian countries, but now it's divided just like the unisoviet. The largest part is become the Indonesia now, that's why they keep mentioning the "Nusantara" as it's was our golden age. Please check on the history and correct me if i'm wrong.
