Alfred Reed (arr.by Koichi Ohashi): Armenian Dances Part 1 (Orchestra Version)
What image does the word "Wind Ensemble" conjure up in your mind? You may have experienced it as a "cultural club activity", a page from your youth, or you may have seen it on television. Some of the pieces played by wind and percussion instruments, which rarely include strings, are "super masterpieces" full of beautiful melodies that are too good to be left as mere "memories of youth". This CD is a dream project to perform such "super masterpieces" in brass band with a full orchestra. The guest musicians are Nobuya Sugawa (saxophone) and Saika Sato (euphonium), both stars of the wind instrument world, and the CD features a selection of works that the composers themselves have arranged for orchestra, as well as newly arranged works. This is a live recording of a hotly anticipated programme for all brass band fans under the baton of the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra and its honorary conductor, Shigeo Genda.
