Under normal circumstances, Alfred as a fifth son would never have become king. But in the nineth century, an Anglo-Saxon king had just a short living expectancy before he was killed in a battle by the Danes. So his elder brothers died soon after coronation.

It was 1 king named Bagsecg that were killed in Ashdown not 5 kings, however there where 5 jarls: Siggtrygg (Sidrac) the elder, Siggtrygg the younger, Harald (Harold), Hrane (Frene), Åsbjørn (Osbern).

Marijn Taal there’s a lecture by professor Michael Drout called “the Anglo Saxon world” it’s on Audible. I’ve never encountered a more detailed and/or passionate insight on the subject

The Angles that stayed in Jutland became Danes, the Angles that stayed in Germany become Saxons, and the Angles that stayed in the Netherlands became Frisians.

Almost the entire tribe of the Angles emigrated to England in the fifth century. What the Angles who had stayed in Angeln in Germany did is unknown.

@@spektra1988 Just use some earphones/headphones that sounds a lot harder. S Stevens is probably right about the speakers btw, cause i can hear him clearly with only 1/3 of the volume.

@@Weda01 Everyone's speakers are different, my guess is you have some massive speakers. I'm sure you will reply, you don't. but that's an easy fireback that you can't prove. He just needs to balance the audio on his video.

@@spektra1988 I dont really have massive speakers. I was watching this video via my phone (Samsung Galaxy S8) and the speakers used for this phone are not known for being that good to my knowledge. So if you cant hear it well using normal computer speakers that is a clear indicator you should probably get new ones :) (or just use ear/headphones)

Why don’t you just consistently pronounce the names in one way? You switch all the time and it just makes everything confusing.
