Very nice video and car, I bought my 2011 GS 350 awd a year ago for 12k at 81k miles. That's a steal to me given its age. In near perfect condition with very minor issues on the exterior. Inside is flawless with only the driver seat having a few creases previous owner absolutely took care of it. The car even got stolen from me in October. Thankfully I got it back in the same condition. Man, I absolutely love this car (although I'm jealous of your wheels lol). Black on black with the cherry red wood. Many compliments as well. Had I came across the V8 version (GS 460) I would've absolutely hopped on it but I'm fine with my blacked out Darth Vader looking v6. Is there a car community for these generations of lexus? Also I am installing a tesla style head unit to replace the outdated infotainment system just narrowing down which brand to go with

The ES of the same year (2008) has much softer and floaty ride. FWD is predisposed to torque steer on fast take offs. The GS has a much stiffer ride for better cornering . Does your motor burn oil? And did you get the vvti cam gears replaced? I am looking into one and it had the gears changed, was wondering if it’s a big issue with the year
@alfredlyon272 жыл бұрын
When I bought my car it had 245k miles on it and it needed just under a quart added between oil changes. This is well within the stated specs in the owners manual. Regardless, I do my own oil changes so I tried several oil brands. All full synthetic and all 5W-30. All gave me the same results, even Mobile One. I finally tried Royal Purple and I have not had to add oil between oil changes in over 20k miles. I currently have over 287k miles on the car in the video and it looks and runs like new. Most of the oil burning on the 3rd gen GS was with the 2006 GS300.

I’m going to buy an 80k 06’ model today for $11k. This video gave me a piece of mind buying a15 year old car. I’m going to try get it for little less than 11 but we’ll see. What’s your honest opinion on that price? Thanks man!
@alfredlyon273 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry to say that 06 was the worst year for the GS. At least here in America the 06 was the GS300 and the 3.0L V6 was one of, if not , the worst motors that Toyota ever made. Also, if you can’t find an 07 for $10k or less I would pass. I’ve seen clean 06s go for under $6k and I would not even pay that.

Josh, keep looking if you did not buy it. Look for a 2007 or newer model. They did a refresh in 2007. I bought a 2008 with 97k miles, one owner, all service records for 10k about a year and a half ago. It’s been a great car. I have not had a single thing go wrong. Good luck !

How is the oil burning problem? Very common. Can any owner advise? Thanks
@alfredlyon273 жыл бұрын
Mostly the 2006 GS300 burned oil but the 3.5L can as well if it’s not maintained properly. I use Royal Purple and I don’t burn any oil and I now have over 275,000 miles.

I’m looking at a 2009 gs350 rwd with 150k miles on it. Would you suggest as a daily driver? Is it reliable? They’re asking for 7500k would you recommend?
@alfredlyon273 жыл бұрын
I always suggest that people get a mechanic to inspect a car before purchasing. That being said that is low miles for that car and year and if it’s in good condition it’s a good price. It could last another 200k miles easy.

@LLC 5016 only up to 2005. 2006 marked the first year Lexus was sold in Japan and there was no more Aristo which only matched the 1st and 2nd gen Aristo. 2006-2012 GS is the 3rd generation.
@alfredlyon273 жыл бұрын
@LLC 5016 again, drive both cars. You will like the GS the most. The Camry and the Avalon are both great dependable cars but they weren’t fun to drive until 2013 for the Avalon and 2018 for the Camry.
@alfredlyon273 жыл бұрын
@LLC 5016 I’m not sure why you are so bothered by my car. It is 12 years old. It has almost 270,000 miles now. I bought it for $7,000 and has cost me next to nothing and I have had it for over three years. I’m not telling anyone they have to buy it. If you want a Avalon go get one and enjoy it.
@alfredlyon273 жыл бұрын
@LLC 5016 here’s a video and with lots of interior shots and the obvious lack of sportiness according to the spokes person there are lots of differences. My GS drives very much like a sports car. Very little roll and is outstanding in very curvy hills. Plus RWD and 35 more hp. I love Toyota but the Avalon is not very similar to the GS. It is very similar to the ES if not exactly the same.
