OK ... when your private yacht is so big it needs a tug to enter and leave port, you have officially 'arrived' in life! Beautiful homes, beautiful boats!
@Robalo-26603 жыл бұрын
Hi Alfred, Most of the big yachts use tow service to prevent damage to their engines. Sucking in any debris into the intake such as plastic can cost thousands to repair.Along with that is the limited maneuverability you find in many yacht facilities. It basically just amounts to cheap insurance in the long run .

The tug boats you've done recently have been fascinating to me. You commented that viewers had mentioned TimBatsea to you. I've watched his channel and he does some really good stuff, especially from the technical side of what it takes to be a tug boat captain. On the other hand, I felt the night you were on the Sara with Captain Morgan was one of the best tug boat sequences I have ever seen. You had the expertise of Capt. Morgan to give up some of the play-by-play in critical situations and maneuvers plus unlike TimB, you were able to move around the boat at will giving the viewers some amazing points of view all throughout the tow. Some of the shots that showed us how close the Sara was to other vessels gave us a real clear perspective as to how much precision and skill it takes to tow a ship in such tight quarters and not hit anybody. I hope you can talk them into letting you do another episode and get a mic on Capt. Morgan, so that we can hear him better. Your filming (great camera work) and questions and Capt. Morgan's answers from his perspective to me is a winning combination. You have to do another one!

Google is your friend!! Built as a unit of the Westport 112 line, "Dreams" was completed in 2008, featuring an exterior design by the American shipyard and naval architecture from Jack Sarin Naval Architects. The 207 GT vessel comfortably accommodates up to eight guests across four staterooms. Performance-wise, she is powered by two MTU 16V 2000 diesel engines, giving her a cruising speed of 22 knots and a top speed of 25 knots. At the time of the sale, motor yacht Dreams had an asking price of $6,495,000.

Hi Alfred, When You Do Get an Appointment With The River Tug Captains, Please Ask Them Why They Have Those Huge Mops On Their Tug's Bows and Not Old Tire Rubber, Like Most Other Tugs Have!
@26N80W3 жыл бұрын
Tires are OK for ships, but they would leave black marks on very expensive paint jobs on white yachts. Beards do not leave marks.

Why was the "Dreams" yacht being towed out. Is he not able or permitted to drive under its own power?
@26N80W3 жыл бұрын
For most large yachts their insurance does not cover them in narrow waterways like the New River. Once the tugs hook them up, all liability transfers to the towing company.
@berndm97433 жыл бұрын
@@26N80W OK that makes perfect sense. Thanks.
@KSpides533 жыл бұрын
So is the tug in the rear or stern to stern with the yacht actually throttle forward?
@TheByard2 жыл бұрын
He will be using the weight of his boat to keep the lines taught, he engages forward gears to steer the yachts stern and slow or stop the tow. Ship docking is done in much the same way only on longer lines, this is the first time I've seen this close up system. Each port in the world finds it's own style that suites local conditions, also the style of boat differs to these conditions. That's what makes this world so interesting.

How’s it going Alfred , Willie here watching you from NorCal San Francisco area, aye I got a question. I watch your videos everyday and I’m just wondering , you all have a lot of boats out there and I mean a lot , what do you all do with them every time a hurricane comes? I was stationed near Jacksonville (Submarine Base in Kingsbay GA) and every time they announced a hurricane is on the way our ship goes out to sea away from it, I’m just wondering what people do with their small boats or Yatchs. Stay safe and TIA. ✌🏽🍻🚤🎣
