Leila Al Jazairia née Fatma-Zohra Bouguettaya en 1927 à Chlef est l'une des plus grandes danseuses orientales du 20 ème siècle. Remarquée par le directeur de l'opéra d'Alger alors qu'elle venait de voir une pièce avec sa grand-mère en 1943 , elle débuta comme comédienne à l'age de 16 ans.. Elle avait joué dans plusieurs pièces théatrales, notamment avec Keltoum (1916- 2011) actrice et danseuse également qui lui proposa de se mettre à la danse. Keltoum et Leila Al Jazairia se rendirent à Paris en 1948 après avoir décroché un contrat au célèbre Cabaret El Djazair fréquenté par des personnalités du monde entier. De part son agilité et son sens du rythme, Leila Al Jazaira fut remarquée par l'actrice Italienne Gina Lollobrigida, qui lui proposa de rencontrer un producteur égyptien .... de là sa carrière au Caire démarra.
ليلى الجزائرية و اسمها الحقيقي فاطمة الزاهرة بوقطاية من مواليد عام 1927 في مدينة الشلف في الجزائر ، وهي واحدة من أكبر الراقصات من نوع الشرقي في القرن العشرين. أكتشفها مديرة أوبرا الجزائر و هي تشاهد مسرحية مع جدتها في عام 1943 ، بدأت كممثلة في سن السادسة عشرة. و لعبت في العديد من المسرحيات مع الممثلة والراقصة كلتوم و هي التي اقترحت على ليلى الرقص. فسفرت كلتوم مع ليلى الجزائرية إلى باريس عام 1948 الى ملهى الجزائر الشهير عند المشاهير العالمية
كانت ليلى راقصة رائعة و نظرًا لخفة حركتها وإحساسها بالإيقاع اكتشفتها الممثلة الإيطالية جينا لولوبريجيدا و عرضت عليها لقاء منتج مصري ... من هناك بدأت مسيرتها الفنية في القاهرة.
Leila Al Jazairia born as Fatma-Zohra Bouguettaya in 1927 in the Algerian city of Chlef former Orléansville, Leila Al Jazairia was one of the greatest oriental dancers of the 20th century. She began her career in 1943 as an actress at Algiers Opera House , playing many classical roles,mostly in french language, before discovering a passion for dancing which led to stardom in Cairo in early 1949. She managed to thrive as a solo dancer and introduced a freer improvisation bellydance style.She added elements of the Bolshoi Ballet and Chirov and the Londoner Covent Garden Ballet's style as well. Leila withdrew from public life in the 60s and lives in Paris.
