One of my favourite annual vents held in Loulé during the month of February, is the Feira do Chocolate at the Market. It's a week long self-indulgent event of "everything chocolate". Chocolatiers from all over Portugal come to Loulé to demonstrate their craft and sell their wares. So tasty! Thank you for the tour of one of my favourite towns in the Algarve.

Loule looks like a really lovely town - a great walking place, too. I liked your technique of doing the overhead shot, and then zooming in and giving us a ground view of things. Kind of strange the train station is so removed from the heart of town. With Loule being close to Faro, the transport hub of the Algarve, it looks like a good place to live - close enough to the beaches, but enough away to avoid the onslaught of tourists. The park shown near the end really looked nice. Probably less bustle than normal, due to Covid, but glad some restaurants and shops are open. The climate in the Algarve should be good in repelling any virus. Loule seems like it would be a good starter town to locate in, and perhaps permanently, too. Thanks for the tour, Nick!

Thanks Nick for another great video. They are certainly fun to watch during a Covid lockdown in Colorado when the snow is falling and we are trapped indoors. I appreciate the insight on all of the cool locals in the Algarve. I fell under the Portuguese spell after a trip in 2015. I never made it down south then, but I will certainly make it a destination whenever travel starts up again. Stay safe.

Thanks for these videos and your channel, I hope you keep producing this type of content - you've got a knack for it! Quite charming as well. ;) If you end up doing consultations for how to find trustworthy estate agents and legal assistance to get property in the Algarve without getting swindled or exploited, I would certainly hit you up in the coming year!

Hey Nick, we quite like the look of Loule. Just wondered how many English speakers there are living there or expats. We are planning to learn the basics at least but would like to know as it will take us a while to get settled and confident speakers

You'll be fine in Loulé as long as you make an effort in Portuguese. Most locals in the Algarve speak English.

I was thinking about staying at the Loulé! Jardim Hotel since it looks like a nice quiet place, but I also would like to get to the beach and it seems that Loulé is no where near the beach. What would you recommend if I wanted to make Loulé my base during my vacation, and then perhaps stay a day or two at a nearby town with a beach not so far from Loulé. Your advice is much appreciated. What is the nightlife like in Loulé? Any clubs, dancing.....ETC. Thanks.

Hi there LT, no clubs in Loulé really. Just Bafe do Barco (?) and some bars. Beach is about 20 mins drive which is not far for a day at the beach.

Thanks Rob - you could try learning online if you'd like? Check out www.practiceportuguese.com?ref=19 or there is a company called "Valor por medida" in Loulé who do Portuguese lessons.

Thanks David 👍🏼In the town itself you can get fibre, so I guess that's a consistent 20mbs plus. Weretin the country and have negotiated a good rate for unlimited 4g which is pretty variable but can be anything from 5mb - 30mbs. Let's put it this way, we can stream Netflix every night with no problem.

Are you allowed to have electric bicycles here? If so is it safe to leave it outside of a shop while buying your groceries for example, or would you need to lock it up? Are their places to lock it up? We are moving there in the next month and a half and I won’t have a car. At least not in the beginning.
@AlgarveAddicts

Hi Anna, yes for sure you're allowed electric bikes. Are there any places in the world that don't allow them? I'd suggest you lock your bike wherever you go in the world.

Really informative, thank you! Loulé has jumped higher on my exploration list after seeing this. You mention parking is hard. Is there much public transit or is Loulé walkable - as in, can one live without a car?
@AlgarveAddicts
@AlgarveAddicts 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Colette, I haven't lived without a car in Loulé só I couldn't really say but it's small enough to be walkable. If you really need it there is a circular bus route (I'm not sure how frequent it is) and lots of Ubers and the dreaded taxis...

Ola Nick. I wanted to ask you a question on living in Loule. Is a car needed to get around town? Is there public transportation? Is the town easy to get around on foot? And my last question is there transportation to the airport. Thank you in advance and Happy New Year. =)
@AlgarveAddicts
@AlgarveAddicts 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Luis, it's small enough to walk and there is also a bus that goes around the town (although I've never used it). Uber and taxis are all over.

Great video. I could use some advice, please. I'm 32 and considering moving to Portugal from England mostly for warmer winter months (but general change in lifestyle appeals too). I visited Loulé and Faro 5 years ago but from what I remember, I get the impression there may not be enough for me to do, even in Faro. Would I compromise a noticeably colder change in winter weather (compared to the Algarve) if I moved to Lisbon, for example?
@AlgarveAddicts
@AlgarveAddicts 4 жыл бұрын
Lisbon is a few degrees cooler and a little wetter than the Algarve but obviously has lots more on. The Algarve is great for people who enjoy an outdoor lifestyle. Hope this helps.

Hi Elizabeth, the whole Algarve used to have a much older expat demographic. It's changing these days and more families are relocating over due to Brexit, issues in the USA and South Africa. That video was made almost two years ago and it feels like things have changed a fair bit. There are many more younger people around now.
