I have a very poor understanding of the basics of math, as I was a very lazy person throughout my general school days, and my very first 2 years of high school, but after that much time passing I realized I had made a grave mistake, and learned only the advanced stuff, but nevertheless, I made it through high school and I was desperate to find somewhere to learn the basics, and here I am. Thank you very much, for doing these kinds of videos

You're a gift from God for people with dyscalculia like me. This is the first time I actually understood how to solve algebraic equations. I wish more math teachers teach the way you teach. Thanks professor Dave!

You totally still get the correct result if you do it in regular PEMDAS order, it just takes more steps and thus reverse makes solving more intuitive. But in normal order you would divide all terms by -1, leaving you with -4 + b = -7. Then you would add 4 to both sides, leaving you with b = -3. But since you didn't cover terms yet, I guess most people would be lost with my explanation

Discovered this channel for your debunking videos and found this while stufying for a college entrance exam. Through all of my years in school and the past months of studying, i never once came across the reverse PEMDAS thing. A whole bunch of stuff just fell into place. Thanks professor dave!

you can also try this take the variables to the RHS and numbers to the LHS but change the signs so if a number in RHS say for example 2 is negative so (-2) you can take it to LHS make it positive and continue doing this hope this helps somebody :3
