They aren't "anti-HEAT" plates they're made to protect against 14.5mm soviet anti tank guns (the guns of the btr-152 are very similar to those)

To correct this all. They are not anti heat plates, they are called “shurtzen”. They were meant to tumble the projectiles of many older AT rifles that could penetrate the side of panzer IVs. Once HEAT warhead AT weapons became popular, the Germans realized their effect against HEAT shells as impromptu stand-off armor. Later in the war, you see Germany fitting tanks with a mesh replacement of this shurtzen, designed specifically to deal with heat warheads (as seen on the Pz IV-70 (A) and the Pz.Beg IV J in war thunder). I hope this clears the air around this topic

Panzer 4 G were notoriously hard to take out in real life. The one thing war thunder get wrong is armor. Just because it's flat doesn't mean it can easily pen. If that was true then germans would have never build their tanks like it.

Always shoot the middle plate, most rounds penetrate right through it. Same goes for Tigers (just don't shoot the middle plate if it's angled. In that case shoot right above the track). Also, if you find yourself against a Panther, don't even try penetrating the front plate (it's almost impossible), shoot the cheeks. There's also a german premium which looks a lot like Tiger but with the turret moved forward. It's almost impossible to penetrate it from front, it's fast, armored, has the same gun as the normal Tiger and has a faster reload, you gotta shoot between those two small dots on the right cheek. Saying all of this as a previous german main, now a russian main. (I can't believe I just did a whole tutorial on how to destroy most german tanks tier 2-4)

Sides are 30mm's if your playing Russia a 122 can ufp it just like the regular panther, if you have a low penning APHE you can aim for the flat parts of the turret face but that can be tricky to do. Generally speaking I aim dead center where the gunners sights are (the two dots on the turret face)

100% take the barrel out of you can, that cannon is fucking vicious but the sides are paper thin and the VK doesn’t always neutral steer the fastest so you’ll be able to flank easy enough. If you’re at range, I mean he’s really just doing what he’s supposed to, but just try dropping arty and marking him on the map :/

Panzer 4s are the easiest to kill. not because its a bad tank, its mostly bad players Use the tank as support. follow the flock, kill reloading tanks, kill hard-to-pen heavy tank, capture points with your mates, and defend points with your mates, remember, you're a glass cannon, anyone can pen you and you can pen (almost) anyone Do this and you'll get 3-5 kill per match... unless ofc you get flanked by light tanks or fast TDs (just fast gremlims in general)

I play the PZ IV H alot and let me tell you why it is stupid to call out this guy for his "useless" tips. If you use added armor modifications the frontal armour could reach up to 100mm of frontal armour (which most tanks in 3.0-5.0) will sometimes find themselves fail to penetrate at an angle / distance. Your best best is to fire at the turret which is quite thin. Also I have to disagree with the cupola cuz one way to kill this thing is to shoot the cupola (if ur round have explosive filler in it), or if u happen to find a blind German main u can just shot wherever u want as long as it's not from the front.
