Just beautiful rendition. I heard him as a child for the first time in the 70s on shortwave in Tanzania from Radio Pakistan on 19m. SP John and Saleem are cultural treasures who need to be given the accolade they deserve. Each word of this song has meaning and depth. I am watching this for the first time. I still have a cassette recording from that time. When a country's national language is being bastardized by English at a level unprecedented what a shame.

I have no problem putting him in the class of Talat Mahmood. One of the few world class singers Pakistan has ever produced. He ruled the fifties. Punjabi or Urdu his voice was equally sweet and beautiful. I only wish I had met him. He was a true gentleman. Rip Saleem.

I feel so lucky and fortunate that I met the legendary singer of Pakistan late Mr. Saleem Raza at his Biden Road, Lahore residence. He opened the door himself and welcomed my friend Qammer and me. I was a student of Forman Christian College, Lahore at that time. I shall never forget him. I shall always cherish a short time that I spent with him.Yes, he was a gentleman and very polite man. In fact, I have recorded an album 'in memory of Saleem Raza' just to pay him tribute way back in 1996 before I left Pakistan for the USA for good. The musical arrangement of this album was done by the great S. B. John's talented son Robin John. One day, God willing, I shall travel from Boston, (my residence) to Vancouver, Canada where Mr. Saleem Raza is buried after his death on November 25, 1983. I have already contacted his relatives who will escort me to the graveside of the legend Saleem Raza. May his soul Rest in Everlasting Peace!
