Thank you for the video. I just wanted to clarify the usual misconception that Spain was conquered by the moors. In fact, Spain was conquered by troops under the rule of the Umayyad from Syria. The Umayyad dynasty remained in power in Spain for 300 years, after which Muslim Spain was fragmented into several kingdoms, one of which Granada. Another one was the kingdom of Zaragoza from which period another lovely palace, Aljaferia, still remains.

You are not a Moor. You are a Turk, who speaks the native language of the Maghreb Amazigh, or Arabic. Your genetics are probably descended from Ottoman Empire conquest of the Maghreb in the early 16th century long after the real "Moors" were expelled from the Iberian Peninsula. The word Moor is anglicized from μαύρος (mauros) which still means black in Greek today. Plus there are tons of Moor faces on European family's Coats of arms today, including Pope Benedict XVI, as well as many depictions in renaissance art for you to see them in their natural swarthy beauty. So you're right you are not a Moor. But, the people who ruled parts of the Iberian Peninsula from 711-1492 and who built the Alhambra were.

@@yodapopsunday Lol no , you're mistaking the word Moor and blackamoor Moor or Maur is the name given by the Visigoths to the Muslim invaders that attacked them from what was previously known as the " Kingdom of Mauritania " . The invaders however where not "Mauritanian " as the Berbers (Not Negroid) that inhabited the kingdom where recent converts to Islam and where not intructed with the invasion. The invasion if the Iberian peninsula was under the hand of Tariq ibn ziyad , a Berber born in Algeria. Spain even gave back his sword to the Algerians in 2002 and is currently in the military museum of Algiers. The discription of blacks at that time was "Ethiopians " . Maur or Moor was the name given to north African Muslims that invaded the Iberian peninsula. Many Taifas where controled by Berbers from Algeria as well , such as the Ifrinids that held some land (I don't remember where ) and the Zayanids that held the Taifa of Grand as their vassal.
