Sie zählt zu den wichtigsten Beispielen dieser Architektur und ist eine der meistbesuchten Touristenattraktionen Europas. Seit 1984 ist die Alhambra ein Weltkulturerbe. Die Anlage erstreckt sich über eine Länge von etwa 740 m und eine Breite von bis zu 220 m. Die Naṣridenpaläste bilden das Zentrum der Alhambra, während die Alcazaba das Bollwerk des Komplexes darstellt. Im Osten liegt der Sommerpalast Generalife.

The complex extends over a length of about 740 m and a width of up to 220 m. The Nasrid Palaces form the center of the Alhambra, while the Alcazaba is the bulwark of the complex. To the east lies the summer palace Generalife.
