yes i agree with u once again,its really hard to sing like this,and javeed bashir is just awesome,out of this world,i had never seen any 1 singing like this live in a reality show,most of the singers who comes as a guest sings very soft songs,but look at javeed bashir singing some thing that no 1 will even try it at home. he belongs to the family of USTADSS and it shows.

The difference between Alaap & Taan is a technical one. An Alaap be definition is used to describe a singers opinion of the Raga under question. An Alaap is never set to a rhythm, it's composed of swaras of the raga and is done at the begining of the recitation. Taan is always set to rhythm, it can be done through explicit sargama or aa-kar etc. Taan is always expressed in matras where matras are whole or fractional #(beats) of the underlying rhythm. Hope this makes it clear.
