That’s a beautiful Meian kit Lora! I have a lot of their kits and they always come this way. I unwind the thread skeins and fold it 4 times and then cut the ends. You will have a good length of thread. I always put them on those cards and surge the edges myself. The French cross stitchers often use broad Scotch masking tape to put around it. Happy stitching ❤

I have several kits from that brand. I think they are made by Huacan. They are very nice kits to work with. There is a lot of confetti, but I just pick out a symbol and do the scattered stitches first. That way when I stitch the bigger areas later, it covers the traveling threads. I do however recommend spending time counting and checking the skeins. I have had a few come up missing some and others have extras. The threads are usually cut at one end, so you just have to unfold them and put them on the cards. I have the plastic floss cards and use them in place of the cardboard ones included. They seem flimsy to me. I just put a piece of masking tape down the middle and write the DMC code above the thread number for each one. Works great. I put the masking tape on the edge of one but later took it off and used the fray check stuff the shops sell.

Gorgeous kit. I think Huacan surges around their canvas, DIY is the company that never surge their canvas, What a mess the thread is, I would not be putting them on the cards I would put them in small project bags, or ziplock sandwich bags. Thanks for the review.

Beautiful kit I have two with the same covers both black and red Japanese ladies. I’ve tried stitching one of them but the printing is slightly off and puts me off stitching it further. Not tried stitching the second one. It’s a shame because they are really pretty as well 😊 my threads were on a card not loose.
