They still make a whole laugh track in post-production. They are cutting it, replacing some fragments with differents, cloning parts, replacing, etc..

I know this is a reach, but at the end of the vid, when Ali G smiles at the Christies guy, I reckon that was a sincere smile of appreciation from SBC. He recognised that this man saw through the character, but played along, had fun, and made the whole thing 100x better than it would’ve been if he had chosen to be a dickhead and be all admonitory and weird.

I've been around the blocks and have learned my life lessons. Keeping it real means being yourself and true to yourself, not being pretentious like a lot of people are. That's an important life lesson. This person obviously had that characteristic and so sacha liked him as did the rest of us. He not only passed Ali G's test, he beat him at this game.
