What he did was brilliant, he would have his crew leave him alone with whoever he was interviewing for around half an hour before the interview began and he would stay in character the whole time, which convinced whoever he was interviewing that he was an idiot with a TV show, so that's why they give him so much leeway and don't immediately leave, they just want the exposure or to get their message across.

One way they'd trick serious people into doing interviews is contact them through official channels and set up an interview like with any other show but Sacha would turn up in character with a couple of guys and/or gals in more.. formal attire. The suits would get all the paperwork signed while he set up equipment as though he was some random on the crew. Once everything was ready the suits would go behind camera, start recording and he'd come forward and start his thing, leaving some very confused looking faces at the start of a few of the interviews.

I discovered an Uncle and that I have Welsh heritage late in life. I sent a youtube clip of AliG with a Welsh choir to my even more elderly Uncle and the next day discovered he had gone down the AliG rabbit hole instead of the Welsh heritage one that I thought might interest him. We shared quite a laugh. It’s my understanding that AliG left interviews with no explanation. I think the NBA guys are close to entertainment in general and would figure it out, but remote political interviews were just left as oddities.

Nobody should skipping the intro or any part of your videos. Your intros are just too damn funny to miss. "My main bitch Lucy"! I love Lucy, her humour is just too funny. ♥ The Ali G and Borat skits are never rehearsed and the "victims" think the interviews are genuine.
