I m from Allahabad, India.This prayed had been recited in most of the schoos upto 70s.Once Amitabh Bachhhan told that this was his school prayer in Sherwood. Unfortunately now some sections of Indian society have developed animosity for Iqbal. Recently a teacher in UP was suspended on account of getting recited this prayer.

May I love the lamp of knowledge, O Lord! ہو مرا کام غریبوں کی حمایت کرنا دردمندوں سے ضعیفوں سے محبت کرنا May supportive of the poor my life's way be! May loving the old, the suffering my way be! مرے اللہ! برائی سے بچانا مجھ کو نیک جو راہ ہو اس رہ پہ چلانا مجھ ک O God! Protect me from the evil ways; show me the path leading to the good ways! The mention of Allamah’s poetical works for children is far from complete without the poems he wrote and recited in public gatherings organized for fund-raising for the orphans. The poet decided not to include those poems in any of the books published by him. These were ‘omitted’ for the reasons best known to Allamah; possibly it was because the poems were written for a specific purpose and he had seen that being fulfilled spontaneously to his entire satisfaction. I have sung this Prayer song since 2002 till 2009 during my school days. Every Morning Assembly used to begin with this and everyday I used to add some new flavours to it ! Though I don’t have its recording as Cameras and camera phones were not so common but I keep its memories with respect. I have loved Allama Iqbal since then ! Respect ✊

Doesn't matter how many times you watch and listen this beautiful '"DUA", every time you'll feel your heart is full of pain and eyes are full of tears. Every word of this poem is just explaining what is Humanity and how we've to respect and help each other. I can't stop weeping because when i was in school, that time not have enough sense to feel this poem properly. I miss this hamd a lot..we used to sing it during assembly at PESJ,KSA..during lockdown period I was talking how Pakistan still maintained a beautiful performance during assembly with my kids..this dua has left behind a very good inspiration in my life.. My father recited this prayer nearly 82 years back in school before partition.He is 92 now and remembers his school assembly,as if he heard it yday!🙏
