As I watched the last part of this video, I opened my KZbin Studio and saw my first bad comment on my channel. It felt like a punch in the stomach. Mainly because there were some truths to this criticism that I now understand... I'm so happy I saw this video hearing you talk about negative comments, it felt like someone is holding my hand when I feel down. Thank you I really needed to hear that🙏🏻

I love being a content creator and I have a looong way to go to grow even to get my first plaque. but I don't give up "just because I don't feel like" recording a video at times. Absolutely great advice. Money alone won't motivate you through the doubt, talking into to the void (no interaction), bad comments, bad feedback, life, no earning, the grind and failures. That's why your why, your purpose, and your passion are the key to success and your fuel. Money is a byproduct of success. Stay Uncommon!

Starting from scratch with just a spark of an idea (and not even a clear niche so far), I’ve learned that if you’re in it just for the money, you’ve already lost. First, you have to genuinely like what you’re doing. Second, you have to enjoy the process of doing it - create your own way. And finally, you need to endure through frustration and setbacks if you have even the faintest vision of where you want your channel to go... Believe me, people will click dislike faster than they’ll take the time to actually give you a chance. But hey, if you’re starting out, like me, just take it one step at a time. 🖤 Great content Ali 🖤

Just came back to this video to let you know how useful this video was for me. I'm not a beginner youtuber, I do already have my own business. But I just love your insights and advice, so I love listening even i might not be 'the target audience'. The two concepts that really stuck with me from this video were the ones of the architect vs archeologist. Wow. this was such an eye-opener! And the concept of the math-problems and the drama-problems. I love both concepts (they were totally new to me). But they make some of my patterns (and of my clients) SO tangible. Seeing it for what they are. So I just wanted to let you know: thank you so much for this video. Also as a 'different audience': very very useful.

My channel is built entirely on the things I’m passionate about and truly believe in. Of course, I dream of growing and monetizing it one day, but for now, my priorities are clear-my little girl comes first. Every piece of content I create happens during those precious moments when she’s napping. “Dreams don’t work unless you do.” And trust me, I’m making every second count! 😎 Fantastic video, and thank you so much for all the invaluable free advice!

the best thing i told myself this year was to just focus on showing up and not worrying about the numbers and it's the best decision i ever made. i have 100 video uploads in only 10 months and the progression of my content in terms of quality just came naturally with every upload. the more videos you work on, the better you start to understand what your mistakes and generally, what you want out of every video you work on. i still barely get any views but i have learnt a lot about myself and for me right now, that's more than good enough.

A challenge I've always faced is Survivor Bias causing me to become slightly disappointed by my journey (a drama problem :) It's easy to see the super-successful and fast-rising channels and think they are the norm - they are not. Enjoyment must be an internal metric. For external validation, I keep a "smile file" - I'll copy positive comments and keep them to remind me that people find value in what I'm doing.

Here are my 2 cents: 1) If someone is doing it for passion/fulfillment/creative joy, then they don't really need these tips really. 2) It will take 2 years? In this fast moving era, how do we even know how relevant youtube long videos will be? 3) Don't really agree with algorithm is audience. What if I create an exact same reel as one of the viral reels? My reel won't necessarily get viral. Even if you repost the viral reel it won't necessarily go viral. But you may also see same reel reposted by someone else and getting nearly viral. So algorithm do play a role definitely.

Great video, as usual. The search for a niche at 5:35 was interesting. Ali recommends the "archaeologist" versus the "architect" approach. I love the concept. Ali used the "archeologist" approach and tried a lot of different niches before choosing the KZbin Growth niche. It's basically a wealth creation niche and it's incredibly popular with audiences and therefore incredibly profitable. So...although Ali tried several niches he eventually chose a niche that is the most logical niche to make money with. Which is why every creator goes directly to that niche and tries to make videos about wealth creation...like an Architect. So...what's the use of being an archeologist if you're just going to land up doing the most popular niche of all...because that's how you make money. How could Ali have gotten rich if he had loved making videos for an extremely unpopular KZbin niche. He'd still be poor right now and no one would be watching his videos. There is what Ali is saying...and there is what Ali is doing. Watch what he does. In order to follow the money, you have to follow the action.

Can I ask for some advice on this? Ali is one of the few creators I admire, along with a few others. I usually recommend Ali's content alongside other creators who provide value to my family, friends, colleagues, and other people I know. On my new channel (not this account, by the way), I would like to recommend my favourite creators, but at the same time, I am conscious that I want to create an audience organically and not throw names around. I do not wish to use other people's names to help the channel grow. I am still trying to figure this out. Would creating a video praising my favourite creators be a mistake? If so, I will not make that type of video to recommend them. Also, I am mindful that these incredible creators have personal brands to protect, and I would want to avoid getting in trouble.

Wow - this was so helpful, your voice is so calming. I started my KZbin channel recently and was feeling down today as someone unsubscribed and not getting enough views. But some things you said were so helpful 1. it takes time to get where we want to be - really needed to hear that. I'm tired of KZbin videos which tell me that I can get 5000 subscribers in one day or how xyz KZbinr got million subscribers in 10 days. It doesnt happen and was making me feel that I'm doing something wrong. 2. The algorithm isnt against you - I was thinking today the algorithm doesnt like me. :(. Thank you for this video - such videos help us to keep on going...

The problem for me is that I come to care about content (philosophy, politics) that rarely someone will ever care about. KZbin genuinely pushes one into a genre. I heard you say you should just start uploading and don't think too much about ones niche in the beginning. But I can't see how I am supposed to make it relevant for the public.
