I’m just starting back to using makeup after a period of a few yrs as I’ve battled a parent’s death & an adult child’s death, so I’ve been battling depression for awhile & just now getting myself back to caring again as I should. Slowly, but surely the sooner the better. I went through a lot of time dealing w self esteem & very low confidence. It’s been a very bad time for me. My favorite brushes are: - the IT cosmetics heavenly luxe complexion perfection n7 - rephr brushes: 1, 2, 3 and 23 (the last one is perfect for applying at the base of lashes as I cannot apply eyeliner). I'm easily influenced so I have way toooo many brushes considering I wear very basic makeup. I always go back to my real techniques 202 for foundation, MAC 224 for one and done eyeshadow 😂 I have bought so many Rephr brushes and although they feel lovely, I've completed confused and overwhelmed myself as for which brush is for what 😅 Thanks for your video, as I'll give them another go and see what I can incorporate into my makeup routine since there are no real rules xx

The rephr website doesn't give a fixed name / purpose to each brush, so I'm thinking that's deliberate and you are supposed to just play around and find your own preference

Absolutely brilliant Andreea thank you, it's just what I've been waiting for. I have a complete weakness for make-up brushes, and have far too many, many more than a person could possibly ever actually use (embarrassed 😳 look on my face). Sigma, MAC, Morphe, Zoeva, Vieve, Nars, RT, It cosmetics, a couple of Chanel, and Dior etc, etc...and if I could afford them I'd love a complete set of Rephr brushes. But I always go back to my favourites which I constantly use. I should have a good old clear out, but then I would always want to use one I no longer have.....! ❤

This video was SO useful for me, just last few days I realized I don't know much about brushes. I have few and sometimes I thought "Oh, what am I doing wrong? It just don't set the product right!" - now I understand why. Appeared I saw only part of the problem - that I don't have enough brushes and those types sort of wrong for what I'm doing. I have like 30 brushes from different brands but my essentials are: blending eye shadow brush, then I have a smaller fluffy one for the outside corners where I put the darker shade of my eyeshadow, and an angle brush to use where the eyeliner should be, but instead I use dark brown eyeshadow to do the line (i don't like liquid eyeliner) and I use it also for the exterior corner to do the tail. Last one for eyes is a smaller blending brush for the inferior eye lid, right under the lashes. So 4 brushes for the eyes. For face I use 3 or 4 brushes also, one for powder, one for blush and another one for illuminator or/and bronzer. I also have one brush for eyebrows and a couple of extra smaller blending brushes if I decide to add extra color to the eye makeup or for the interior corner /under-brow illuminator. So yeah a total of 12 brushes it's more than enough for the average user. Thank you for the review really appreciate it. I've always wondered what brushes do you use, cause I'm not big on makeup brands, I basically buy what seems good quality or very know brands, but not all the time these brands have the best products in terms of makeup tools, and I wouldn't pay excessively for a makeup brush just because it's "Channel" for example.

My top five make up brushes would be the Smashbox full coverage foundation, Wayne Goss number 13, rephr numbers 13 and 14, and the Wayne Goss airbrush. I use those every day. I don’t own any Sonia G brushes, but I would love to add the smooth buffer to my collection. I love Smashbox, it cosmetics, mac before they went synthetic, rephr, Wayne, Goss, and the old luxe line from zoeva.

I bought last year some rephr brushes based on your recommendations and yes, they are amazing. One year later, they still look like new. I want new ones but since I'm not a make up artist, I don't need so many 😅 And for creamy textures I tried the brush from rare beauty and it works also amazingly! Especially with rare beauty creamy blushes.

I have MAC brushes that are 25 years old and still in perfect condition! I remember saving as a student to buy one single brush! BK beauty's brushes are not very expensive, that ist true, but ordering in Europe has shipping costs + taxes, you have to consider this.

I have just ordered some Rephr eye brushes based on your recommendations. I use Hakuhodos mainly but I am always interested in smaller eye brushes since I have small eyelids. My all time favorite foundation brush is Morphe M439. I have several because once they are dirty I have to clean it to use again so they are in a rotation. I also have the mini version of that one the M449 for concealor. I also love the Chanel flat foundation brush for laying down certain foundations. I am going to order that BK Beauty one as well.

I ve trusted you and bought rephr brushes and it is true it is by so far my favorite brushes i grabbed instinctively n 01 ,02 13 and 03 for my eyes and 33, 36, for complexion, as for powders I use depending on the effect I want 24 or 05 for bronzer and 05 or 04 for blush, but I also have mac essentials. Hi Andreea, I've been following you since you used to live in Romania, probably even before you got to be an Anastasia Beverly Hills makeup artist. I can't really remember as it's been quite some time since then😅. Thank you very much for all your hard work here on youtube, I've learned a lot from you, and most of your recommendations have worked for me. I think 2 years ago when Becca was about to not be on the market anymore as a brand, you recommended Bali Sands bronzer. I got it, and it became my all-time favourite bronzer. Of course, they don't make it anymore, and I am just about to finish mine. Have you perhaps found a good dupe for it, please? None of my other 20 odd bronzers seem to be not even close to that one. I always wash them pointing downwards so that the ferrule doesn’t get water inside and cause the brush to be come unglued. I reshape them and leave the tops hanging over the edge of my counter so they air dry - Again without water running into to the binding.

I have IT cosmetics foundation brush and the whole concealer part fell off after approx 2 years. Would that be a wrong way of cleaning them?

I love hourglass brushes. I have a travel double sided one and a couple of the double sided powder brushes. I’ll need to try the concealer brush next! I have several rephr sets which I rotate through but I prefer squirrel brushes and have a wayne goss set that’s stellar. I’m picking up more squirrel lately or synthetic. As I get older the goat is starting to feel not as soft as I prefer. Hakuhodo brushes are also great for small eyes and detail work.
