except she saw danny shot dead lol it's not magic she's talking about. she's saying that since they never found her body, he must've just given up hope and that, to her, isn't justifiable in their job since they've seen so much crazy shit. you can't assume someone's dead because they're missing. after all, jack never stopped looking
