You know, every last one of these damn, songs slices through me like a knife now. I struggle so, hard to keep from getting insanely, emotional but it's a loosing battle. There was a spirit throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s that simply, does not exist anymore. I don't think the kids today, will ever understand. Long Live Disco. Long Live Rock. Best of 2020. Out.

@ivanj.conway99194 жыл бұрын
@@troysunshine1107 : Well Troy, it's not that difficult my dear fellow, all you need to do is compare anything that is considered good today, to even, what may have been considered bad or mediocre when we were young and you can tell for yourself. Even the bad pop of these decades is largely, so, so, much better than pretty much, anything being pumped out today. It's everything, pretty much. It's what these people were singing about, many times. It's the way these songs were put together. It's the type and variety of instrumentals that accompanied them. It was the talent of the singing/vocalizing in general, which is so far above almost, everyone today, there really, is no real, comparison, at all. It's the vibe, the feel, the sincerity, the passion. It's the type of visuals that accompanied these songs, and how they helped to tell the story of the song as you see in this one here. I mean, Man, I can go on and on here. An entire era, and a whole, different, way of presenting music that quite, honestly, does not seem to exist anymore, and hasn't for pushing, 30 damn, years now. Yes, of course, for those of us 40 and 50 plus years of age, we acquaint this music to our youth as well, so there that sadness and melancholy that this time is no more, but I'm convinced that it's more than that. Most of this music, by-in-large, was better, overall, than anything that has been pumped out for almost, three, full, damn, decades, now. That's an awful long time to be stuck in the god awful, groove that we're stuck into, today. But God Bless you guys who are opening yourselves up to the music of these decades, and enjoying it, I think, from the comments I'm increasingly, coming across, as it's giving me some small, glimmer of hope, that things can change around and improve, after all. I believe most of the comments you read about how much people miss this type/style of music is genuine and sincere. It's not purely and only to shit on the kids of today and what they like and are into; it's more, that we know what we had before, and we know something has been lost along the way, and that saddens us deeply. It does me, for sure. I don't know, My Brother. My father was heavily, into the really, old fashioned Country and Western music, with all that insane, nasal, twang and depressing, tear in your beer songs, and I never could understand that. I hated that and still do, as much as I hate the rap and hip-hop of today. But this was music of his era, which I never grew up with, so I guess, I simply, can't understand, try as I might. Now I'm OK with much of 80s Country music, which my dad always, thought was not pure, real, Country at all, and he hated that. So there you go. Just like I don't like much of the Country music of today, because it's TOO, heavily, rap and hip-hop influenced and suffers because of it. It's a hard thing to know how to help others to understand, really. All I know is that we had some of the very, best, damn, Pop Music throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s, the 70s in particular for my taste, than you had throughout the whole of the 20th Century, and now, all of the 21st, so far. So, like others, I can count myself blessed that I was born into, was a youth and grew up in, what may yet, be considered the Golden Age of Popular Music. My Retro/Old School Best. Be Well. Be Safe. Out. Now I must go and listen to this song, again.

MTV from music changed to reality crap TV. Also the Internet piracy and streaming discouraged many song writers to continue releasing great stuff. Nowadays unless you tour and perform live, you won't get too much profits from song downloads, and streaming (just fractions of a cent). I believe that is the reason and it really sucks

I blame a few things. 1)Almost nobody outside maybe country plays their own instruments anymore. 2)Bands rarely have 1 lead singer with backup; either everyone sings (boyband) or the lead has no vocal backup & therefor no harmony. 3)Rock fell out of favor & merged with country. 4)Radio stations only play 20 songs a day over & over each month, much in the way that TV stations just marathon everything.

Back in the day when love songs really where romantic and meant something. I remember yelling the words, "I need you now" at the end of the song every time I listened to this on the radio. From 1990 to 2018 this song remains beautiful:) From an 11 year old to now a 39 year old.

I am lost in these lyrics , it seems to be listening to what my heart is saying. Losing the love of my life almost a year ago, I live with my soul’s shutters drawn and no lights on. My dearest Amy, I know you are still with us, will I ever be able to let your go? My words crumble as faded vinyls relapse into static again. If I only had more time with you, I know I would have loved you more than anyone. My heated blankets aren’t enough to keep the bed warm enough to sleep either. Every second of everyday, every thought that I breath your right there. There goes my heart, listening for your slightest touch. My eyes are drawn to the ceiling every night, hoping to catch a glimpse of you. Im restless, sleep diminishes as the moon rises and falls. Holding on to everything we ever accomplished together, and trying to keep the babies comforted. I look forward to our long walks again on that eternal beach you walk barefoot. My darling Amy, may our heartfelt kisses reach you and your parents and family. I know Mom may keep you company, but for sure my Grandmothers Zoe and Emma will. Love you my beautiful wife. I always will. >!< =!=

I played this song as a radio DJ when it was new. Such great memories for when music was better. The lead singer was the lead vocalist for the group, Sheriff. They had a #1 with When I’m with you. He has such a great voice. Journey should have called him when searching for a Steve Perry replacement.

As a non English speaker, listening & memorizing a song is a way of learning the language. I was 9 when this was released, love the song, recorded it on a cassette then repeat it over and over trying to write the lyrics so I can sing along. Ofc, many incorrect spelling, but yeah, I think I did a great job! 😃
