"Alice Cooper" started out as the band name, but at some point, the lead singer, Vincent Furnier, took on that moniker. In fact, in their song "Be My Lover," there is a lyric, "She asked me why the singer's name was Alice." In 1975, Alice Cooper (now the person) went solo with the "Welcome to My Nightmare" album, and has been solo ever since. So yeah, the guy with the snake is Alice Cooper, and has been for a long, long time.

Saw Alice in the later 70's, the mid 80's and then again about a year and a half ago. I saw Coop two years ago and Ace Frehley opened for them. Alice Cooper's show was phenomenal, and the musicianship was excellent. "We can't think of a word that rhymes," is my favorite lyric in this song because they couldn't think of a word that rhymed with "principal." He's very smart and hilarious. He's a preacher's son, also. Alice has been sober for years and is a positive influence. Ace Frehley came out and jammed with the band on this one. Alice Cooper is still touring...and the band is named Alice Cooper and also Vincent's on-stage character. (Off stage, "Alice" is really Vincent Furnier.) He's also a scratch golfer and was great friends with the late Glen Campbell. He is a very approachable and kind man according to my best friend who has seen him in the St. Simons/Jekyll Island area in Georgia as he plays golf there at times. He says he answers to both Alice and Vincent....lol.

Last year was a big anniversary of one of Alice Cooper' early records. I thought I knew a little of the band, until Mr Alice Coopers says this "Well my studio band and my touring band are not remotely connected". Okay, Alice cooper is a legend in "rock opera style Performance Art" including elaborate props and sets with Alice being hung by a noose for dramatic flair etc. His "touring band" must be music theater performers. Vincent Furnier (a.k.a. Alice Cooper) was inspired by Screamin' Jay Hawkins the R&B, soul, and rock & roll recording artist who's known for his hit release of "I Put a Spell on You" from 1956. Jay sometimes used Macabre props onstage. He is one of the pioneers in 'shock rock'. Another psychedelic/shock rock band formed out of England, 'The Crazy World of Arthur Brown' had a huge influence on Alice also. Arthur Brown was one of the pioneers in shock rock as well with his flamboyant and theatrical stage performances. "Fire" an international smash hit released back in 1968 by Arthur Brown was smokin' hot for that time period. Alice's release of "Billion Dollar Babies" a track off the same named album from 1973 is also fire. Drummer Neal Smith gives it his all on the recording. ⚡🎤🎸🎹🥁🔊🔥🔥☮🎧

It became an anthem for the last day of school each year after it was released when I was 12. None of us had heard of him up till then and having a dude named “Alice” was pretty weird at the time. I remember some kids calling him “Alice Cooper the f@g”. Which of course was ridiculous but times were very different in 1972. Apparently he was quite a fixture in the Laurel Canyon scene of the late 60’s. Apparently Frank Zappa asked the band to come over to his house to jam/audition at 7. He meant PM. The band showed up at 7 AM! 😂
@user-qs1ko3nu1c4 ай бұрын
Originally the band was called Alice Cooper but Alice Cooper (aka Vince Furnier) was also the lead singer. So yes Alice is the man but also the band. The original band dissolved in 1974 and Alice had his name changed legally to Alice Cooper. So he IS Alice Cooper. As a matter of fact when he got married his wife Sheryll took the Cooper name and their three children also carry the Cooper name. The song Schools Out is ubiquitous is pop culture. It's hard to find anyone young or old that's not at least a little familiar with. Not only was it huge smash hit when it was released but over the last 52 years it has been in dozens of movie and TV soundtracks. Also in advertisments and video games as well. Guitar Hero springs to mind. Even local TV news stations play it on the last day of school. Very few songs can claim to be woven into pop culture but this is one of them. One interesting fact , producer Bob Ezrin used a childrens choir on the chorus on this song to great effect. A decade later he used it again on Pink Floyd's "The Wall".
