Nice historic piece of Alice Cooper history. Thanks for posting. At age 12 in 1975, when I was home alone I would put on one of my mom's wigs, use a hairbrush as a mic, and jump all over the furniture as my "stage", singing to cranked-up Alice Cooper songs. Then I got into guitar a few years later. I now have logged hundreds gigs with several bands over 33 years. It all started with that wig, hairbrush, and my two favorite albums as a kid - Love it to Death and Billion Dollar Babies.

I think that Bob Ezrin did a swell job of taking A.C. from their niche Art Rock genre to a "Commercially Viable Product." That said, I have mountains of respect for the first two LP's, "Easy Action" and "Pretties For You." Both Engineered by Sherman Barrymore Keene, one of Rock and Roll's premier Engineers. (He did allot of work with Zappa, as well). By the time "Billion Dollar Babies" was released, I was "over" Alice Cooper. But, I'm a Old Codger. I got to eye witness the weirdness of the '70-'71 the embryonic Alice Cooper, live, in L.A.. I also completely wore out my original copies of those first 3 records. The original master recordings are spectacular. Thanks, Barry.

when we saw this show at an outdoor stadium in Toronto no one really knew what was coming...we had been out in the sun baking and partaking all day long...Alice hit at sunset, just before the 'headliner' Steppenwolf...we were ABSOLUTELY stunned by the whole of it...peeps stayed to watch Steppenwolf but the damage was done...AC blew them off the stage it was pre-everything, right? no one had seen anything close to Alice yet, Bowie was a rumour etc etc...

Thanks for the post. We were 13-14 and just got done being the kings. We were the original hippie freaks at our junior high. But now it was over. Japanese George's parents were different...and we came into the basement via the window well. Many nights we'd stay up to 2-3 and we'd listen to this late, late at night. And Sun to Rise come every morning we'd go back out the same way, (Even though his parents knew we were there. Testosterone and young teenage angst at its best.

Agreed Mr. DwighttFrye. Thank you for posting this! I got turned on to this album by a brother when it came out.I was a preteen. Now, as a musician, STILL go back and listen, love, and play some of it. That transition between the two songs is just wonderful! I am a guitarist that plays a little of other instruments, one job I had in the late 2000's was caretaking my freind and her property, and she had a full size grand piano, which I stuck little pieces of white tape on the white keys with the note designations. LOL Just to try to play that transition part! Those two songs are just very melodic with the guitar harmonies, such good writing!

I was Alice's agent back then and although I loved the original band members and their sound it is not cool to say "some half assed sidemen" because the musicians that were brought in by Jack Richardson and Bob Ezrin of Nimbus Nine Productions were top notch and have played with Lou Reed,,Bette Midler ,Mandala, Bush and Iron Butterfly and were the best of the best at the time. Now today is another story, so if you check out the videos right after this album the band was tight as hell.

I cant say which one was THE best AC record but, I believe the 4 albums beginning with 'Love it to Death' were the best....1. Love it to Death 2. Killer 3. Schools out and 4. Billion Dollar Babies. This was probably his peak recording era. But then nobody peaks through their whole career.

My favorite performance of Vince as Alice? Either way I was wrong Alice and apologize for my lame performance of my karaoke tribute without asking. I stopped all that. I knew this era was a moment in time , and I have no idea why , when Mary Tyler Moore past, it was like these days can be captured. Its corney because I hardly ever saw an episode. My problem Vince, I'm having a hard time navigating this century. You are one of my Hero's and this song is a reflection of my real life. Bob
