Jerry Cantrell doesn't get enough credit for the guitar god that he is.

I'm with you that he surely doesn't get enough credit for playing the guitar in AIC but a god? Sorry mate but I grew up with the kinds of Jimmy Page or Hendrix, those were truly the gods but still, Jerry is freakin amazing also as the 2nd voice of AIC

Alice in Chains ⛓️ is my favorite all time band, it still hurts to think about the loss to the world 🌎 I can be hyper sensitive when talking about it, or Layne Staley, he's my Elvis/ John Lennon

@Amelia I live in New Orleans, and before Hurricane Katrina 🌀 usually every band on major tours came here, word is the promoters here got greedy and alot of bands have blacklisted Nola. But I was lucky enough to see AIC with Layne 3 times in the 90's. The first time they opened for OZZY on the NO MORE TOURS/ TEARS tour, 2nd was at the 2nd LOLLAPALOOZA, and the 3rd time was in Detroit when KISS did their first ALL original members reunion tour, I lived a couple hours from Detroit back then. STP was supposed to open for KISS, but it was a surprise to everyone that AIC opened, because Scott Weiland had been arrested a few weeks before for drug related stuff

@Amelia and I'm going to see AIC in Tampa on September 30th 2022 with my best friend that lives there. That will probably be the last concert I attend. Unless I'm lucky enough to see THE CULT again here in Nola on this next tour

His "trademark/ signature move," in all the videos he would look into the 📷 camera and roll his eyes 👀 back up and into his head, I liked it, thought it was/IS cool 😎 AF!

20 years ago today Layne Staley passed away at the age of 34. My first concert was during The Clash of the Titans tour in June of '91, so thankfully I got to see both Mike Starr and Layne. Miss them so much ❤

Guitarist Jerry Cantrell and singer Layne STALEY wrote RAIN WHEN I DIE about their respective girlfriends. Jerry Cantrell labeled Alice In Chains as a HEAVY BLUES ROCK BAND, they just happened to come out in 1990 with Facelift BEFORE the Seattle Grunge scene exploded. Layne was better Live than the studio version. Love Hate Love live at the Moore in December 1990 is UNTOUCHABLE PERFECTION performed live by a rock band. Other rock bands should strive to have a live performance that perfect. Layne Staley's vocal range can run rings around any other grunge singer in my opinion. Layne could sing the phone book and never hit a wrong note. Even at the end of his life, with no teeth and a lisp, his voice, wit and humor were all still there. Layne's voice and vocal range was so powerful he did NOT need auto tune or pro-tools until he lost his teeth and had a lisp around 1998, and even then he still killed the vocals. Barrett Martin (who played with Layne in Mad Season) said that when he stood to the side of the stage, he could hear the sound of Layne vocal resonance come out of Layne's body LOUDER than it did coming out of the speakers, Layne's voice was that powerful. My Top 20 AIC songs... Love Hate Love (Live at the Moore, December 1990...Layne Staley in his prime and is UNTOUCHABLE PERFECTION performed live by a rock band. All other rock bands should strive to have a live performance this perfect), Man in the Box (Live at Weedsport, NY 1991 - the Layne’s Pissed Version...though the original version may be better to react to, because Weedsport was during Clash of the Titans tour where Slayer fans were giving the band crap and Layne got pissed and changed the lyrics), Bleed the Freak (Live at the Moore, December 1990), It Ain’t Like That (if you need a video use Singles Pro Shot video), Queen of the Rodeo (Live in Dallas, TX 1990), Real Thing (Live ANYWHERE), Them Bones, God Smack (Live at Hollywood Rock, 1993), Grind, Again, No Excuses, Brush Away, Frogs, Sludge Factory (During MTV Unplugged 1996, Layne screwed up the 2nd verse like 8 times, though the show only included one of those times), What the Hell Have I, God Am, Got Me Wrong, Swing On This, Social Parasite, We Die Young

Sean Kinney, the drummer, hadn't heard from Layne in a few weeks, went to check on him, so I think Sean was the first to discover Layne was dead. Later on Layne's mom was in Layne's condo, asked the police " Could I have a few moments with my son" Layne weighed around 85 pounds when he died from heroin ( I believe) use. I feel bad for Layne's mom having to talk to him lying dead in his living room near his coffee table....
