As a young LGBTQ+ member, this show and, before that, comic, helped me so much. It's so nice to see representation like this on the screen. Alice and everyone else involved did an amazing job, and I will never be the same again (in the best way possible)

You think this represents LGBTQ+? I’m dropping America…
@kingboogy77062 жыл бұрын
@@huelu982 What do you mean? Most of the time in media, LGBTQ is represented in a way that makes it seem horrible or like it's lustful, in the show and comic it shows that they can be in normal, happy relationships without the lust and purely with love. What's so wrong with that? And as a Bisexual person myself, I had a very similar experience to Nick, so I thought that part of the show was accurate and relatable.

This show brought me to tears, it touched my heart in so many ways. This show is so universal. I saw my younger self in Nick and Charlie and had me reflect on my middle and high school years. HI King Boogy. i agree with you 100% I'm not a teen but when i see "lgbtq+" represented in a new show about teens, i become an avid viewer. a few years ago, i became a big fan of a stupid Disiny show called "andy mack" I only watched because i wanted to see the progression of TJ and Cyrus. other they making it clear, that a jock like TJ, could possibly be bi or gay, in my openion, the show did as much harm as it did good. It kept them and their relationship in the closet until the very last minute and still them "kinda" coming out to each other, they made it obvious to the viewers by letting every "straight" couple have a resolve and a kiss, TJ and Cyrus, held hands for a few seconds, but there hands were mostly obscured from the viewers . if you blinked you would have missed it. TJ and Cyrus, were never allowed to "mainstream" in public. In interviews after Andy Mack ended, Luke Mullen (TJ) who as far as i know is straight in real life (none of anyones business to speculate) told how he was continiously pushing the writers to speed up the 'gay' story line and was always turned down. ....Josh Rush, who played Cyrus, was forbidden by Disney to "come out" about his own sexuality, was warned not to do so, until after his contract had expired and the show ended. this show is bigger than a "breath of fresh air" it fills the room with oxygen. I read everything in every comment section of every review, edit of andi mack and i teared up when i read about some kid, who was able to see themselves in a tv show and know that they aren't alone. HEARTSTOPPER is a 10,000% improvement. LGBTQ+ isn't part of someone's elses story, in a show, it is the story. BRAVO.

You've already done that a million times over by now I'm sure. I'm one of many of those you've inspired and your story. Both book and the show has gotten me out of a rut that I've been stuck in since I was 11 years old growing up in a religious and very close minded household where I felt like I could lose the care of my providers if I even dared to think about who I actually liked. Dear Young People, As Alice said, she targeted this mainly to young people, but please be aware how much this had deeply impacted us old folks as well. There are many parts that I have watched 20 times in a row, especially Nick and Charlie's first kiss, the rain scene, and the last 14 minutes of episode 8. The first time I watched Heartstopper, I had tears streaming down my face many times and didn't even realize it. While LGBT+ youth culture has changed in many ways, especially with social media, constant interconnection via text messaging, and the ability to Google anything for information, many things have not changed at all, like the yearning for love and acceptance that we all go through (and for our entire lives). Rather than feel disconnected from what I was watching, as has occurred many times with shows targeting young people, Heartstopper transported me back to my youth. It is something quite special as a 58 year old man to experience all of the feelings and emotions, hopes, insecurities, love and angst, as if I was a teenager all over again. A television series has never had this effect on me in my entire life. I am so happy that our LGBT+ youth can find inspiration in this show, and while we have much more progress to make, I am glad that they can be open in their relationships, with all of the ups and downs that go with it. As a young gay man, I didn't experience anything like what was presented here. I think that's where the tears came from. I was seeing something on screen that I could only have dreamed of way back then. And with Heartstopper we have bi representation, which on screen has been even rarer than trans representation. It's about time! Finally, the characters of Nick and Charlie melted my heart. The journey each one takes to find love with one another was so amazingly portrayed by the actors, and I still am totally astonished by the performances. This was perfectly cast. The entire cast was perfect, even the villains. Nick and Charlie's story is made even more special because they are both REALLY GOOD GUYS. These are the kind of young people, of any orientation, who we need to make this world a better place. I think Nick's speech in the corridor, when he proclaims to Charlie that he is the the most amazing person in the world, may be one of the most iconic LGBT+ scenes ever portrayed on a screen. I demand Emmy awards! If you have older LGBT+ friends or family members who may not have seen Heartstoppers, please tell them about it, or better yet, binge-watch it with them, and then talk about it. I don't know of anything else I have ever seen that can bridge the generation gap like Heartstoppers does. Fondly, "Grandpa" :)

Basically, what you wrote here are my thoughts exactly, I just could never put them down so eloquently. I am also 58 and cried numerous times during the season. At the age of Nick and Charlie, I was trying to convince myself I could change, terrified of people finding out and unsure if I even wanted to go on. There were no outlets like there are today. My husband and I just started watching this on a whim one evening while scrolling Netflix. We were also astounded by the acting, the two main characters, who act as if they have years of experience, yet they are so young. Definite Emmy quality performances. Cheers, from another "old" guy.

THIS IS SUCH A SPECIAL SHOW! 💗💜 The fact that so many ppl all around the world had similar reactions to it can tell u how this show was able to touch us in a way no other show or movie was able to ever. I'm so happy for the young que er kids who'll get to see this n know that it's okay to dream about love n they deserve to be loved n be happy. Heartstopper is providing the optimism, that I know i didn't have when i was in school, to those kids. Also, I'm reading ppl say this show was targetted towards the teenagers n the new generation n not millennials n older generations but when i started watching the show, one of my very first thoughts was it feels so millennial! This show, even tho set in current time where everyone is on instagram, is very millennial in its feel. N i don't know if the gen x n older generations feel the same way. But i have to say I don't think the younger Gen Zers can feel what it made us all the older generations feel. It brought back (or gave us) the feelings we were robbed of years ago. This show felt like it was more relatable for us but very helpful n useful for the younger generation. Which makes sense considering the fact that Alice Oseman is almost my age n she has the perspective of a millennial. I think that's why this show felt so relatable n touching. I think watching this show we all felt- oh so this is the feeling i craved in high school. N we were made believe that we didn't deserve that until this show came out. N for a small town Indian boy like me who didn't even know what homosexuality was, i didn't even know I needed this. It took too long to happen but I'm grateful we got to feel this feeling cuz of Heartstopper.😌💗💜❤️💛

I started reading the graphic novels in 2020 and have loved Heartstopper ever since and I am so happy and grateful that the show is just as amazing, beautiful and wholesome as the comics are to me. Thanks Alice and everyone else who made this possible!!!

To think these characters have been living in her head all these years and to see them in life personified in this amazing cast. It must have been so surreal.

Reading Heartstopper and also watching the show, you can see how much of a sensible heart Alice has. It feels like no moment is wasted, and even though things can be tough, there is always place for comfort, support, understanding and hope. Nick is the best bi representation I could've ever asked for, and I've never felt so connected to the LGBTQIA+ community as a whole before. Hope Alice can rest well after such hard work, and always have the same comfort and support she shares with others in her own life ♡

im really glad they brought Alice along for the journey of adapting her prized comic storylines into a tv series. Honestly, im sure its a different experience for her and im glad its a rewarding collaboration one for all involved. Heres to continued success for Heartstopper and for Alice as well. She's the one who created such vibrant and lovable characters out of that head of hers. A real labor of love in terms of creativity and expression of art.

One of my favorite lines in the show is when Imogen says she is an ally, and Darcy replies "Thank you for your service!" So funny and so apt. I think the whole series also helps some of us to be better allies, particularly, not patting ourselves on the back, but just understanding more and finding ways to simply be better support and shut up about it. I simply loved this story, the cast, and how it was directed! I have worked with young people this age, and it gave me great ideas of how to be a supportive adult. I have always tried to listen, but creating safe spaces, stressing communication, and keep my eye on community factors helps so much. Also, I think that referring young people to queer media--books, comics, tv show is another good idea. This media is often written from some personal experience, and I also think there are some subtle differences that I needed to be aware of. Thank you, Alice Oseman, for an educational experience that made my heart warm and my love flow!
