ALICE Pack to MOLLE II Frame Conversion: Initial Setup

Thanks for sharing your ideas! A little hint, you´re using the black Gen 1 MOLLE frame. The light grey frame from the MOLLE 2 pack in UCP and the Coyote frame from the OCP MOLLE 2 pack are subsequent versions. These are improved fit and stability. I would say you can actually feel the difference comfort wise between the old black and the newer ones. Maybe that helps you. Cheers Torsten

the pack looks good with a woodland suspension system. Took me a while to figure out i could use a set of triglides (the pastic ones) for this set up, but i have to say i'm extremely happy with it.

Im having trouble seeing exactly how you ran the original strap around the frame into the tri glide to secure it. Im trying to do the same mod cause i like the alice better than the molle 2. Its about half the weight to start with and i love the outter pockets of the alice. It also compresses a lot flatter for storage when its empty. The alice frames are rediculous on price tho. They cost almost double what i gave for my ruck and thats for an aftermarket. Only gi surplus ones ive seen are pretty rough. And close to the same cost.

Which is better? The ALICE frame with an ALICE or a MOLLE II frame with an ALICE? I have recently acquired both. So I can go either way.

They're both good, only thing I've ever heard negative about the Alice frame is the bar at the top on the back of your neck; shooters preference

@@Accident_Proof What about in terms of comfort? I mean I'm rucking with full gear, full sleep system, and a bunch of water. I just want something that's going to FEEL lighter, like maybe more support. The weight's gonna be there either way but if one of the frames is going to make it feel lighter than that's what I want.

@@JohnDoe-cd6ro honestly I couldn't give you a straight answer, I havent worn the ALICE frame with a heavy load. Best bet would be trying it out with both frames, the swap is pretty seamless. I'll tell you the MOLLE straps are a lot more comfortable

@@Accident_Proof Oh yeah. Most definitely. That's why I got the MOLLE ruck to begin with; to do the ALICE "hellcat" mod. Some dude was selling a complete set w/ frame for dirt cheap, cheaper than the straps and the waist belt online alone. But now it's just hard to tell whether I should use the MOLLE II straps and waist belt with the ALICE frame or the MOLLE frame.

Which bag do you want to use? Because the MOLLE suspension on the ALICE frame is superior to the OG Alice. Which is the point, along with the G.I. Alice frame being more durable. That's the real G.I. frames. Any knock off is probably going to be good enough, 😊but get G.I. if possible.

Gotta find it at a good price, but it's certainly out there. Still see em complete close to 60 in surplus stores

@@Accident_Proof surplus stores are dead brotha, if you are near a store that sells em complete ( with frame) in not beat up condition for $60 you should clean em out and resell sell them.....nowadays your best shot is garage sells or fleamarkets
