BayareaGuy06 It may be easier to say who's still alive from this cast: Nanette Fabray (1920-), Judi Rolin (1946-) (according to her bio, this special originally aired on her 20th b-day), Tom (1937-) & Dick (1939-) Smothers, and Jackie Joseph (1934-). I hope I'm not missing anyone. I remember seeing Georgia Simmons in the last originally-aired Twilight Zone, "The Bewitchin' Pool"), as Aunt T. She looked great here for being past age 80.
@cmulwee0019 жыл бұрын
Jon H That final Twilight Zone episode was considerably more lighthearted that most other entries. I guess they wanted to end the show on a positive note. But back to Alice, The Song "Backwards Alphabet" was covered by Soupy Sales with a Children's Chorus,and that version was used on CAPTAIN KANGAROO and was "lip synced" by "Fred" a portly Animorphs character. Never knee the song originated from "Alice" until now

29 dislikes? If you were people back in 1966 you would love this , I'm under 20 years old , but the percentage of how much I'm going to actually like this as much as the people in 1966 did is smaller than the chance that Jake Paul actually did do an overnight challenge at the White House , I'm just watching because why the hell not?
@CollinSamatas2 жыл бұрын
Saw this as a kid, it's definitely a rather historical gem. The acting is so wonderfully hammy. Productions today rely on so many more edits, effects, etc. that an emphasis ends up being placed on things other than acting.
@ostrari Жыл бұрын
I'm not watching this before I read the original Through the Looking Glass, but what's it matter when something like Joker can get over a billion dollars? I just want a good story or deep message, and in the original Alice's Adventures in Wonderland the use of language is incredibly important. How something is typically said in jest visualized in a literal way or things that have no word for it having a word in Wonderland really mattered to the story. I don't think it would be possible to tell the actual story told originally without cgi.

Looking glass world'. Looking out over the horizon, the hills, setting sun, inspiring a magical world in another dimension where size & logic are reversed, where the impossible becomes possible, a conversation, a riddle, where we could be so small the next so large, a world of talking animals, of different colours, absurd characters & situations, of wonder seen with childlike eyes, where money seems to have little value, through a looking glass. written by Andrew Williams in 2008.

I read about this in a book about "Alice in Wonderland" and its various media incarnations...needless to say my curiosity was piqued... HOWEVER, the Evil Queen in Wonderland is used in the "Ever After High" series where she becomes too power hungry and tries to overtake the kingdom of Wonderland, displacing the Wonderlandians who are unsure at this point if they will ever be able to return home. (And they are Maddie Hatter, Lizzie Hearts, Kitty Cheshire, Bunny Blanc and Alistair Wonderland.)

I've never seen this one before! The ones I grew up with were the two versions from the 80s (One has Richard Burton's daughter, and the other is a BIG American production for television), the 70s BBC version with Sarah Sutton (later to become a Dr Who companion), and of course the Disney cartoon. This one is neat since Alice seems to live in the contemporary times of the broadcast of the show (the party has a 60s feel, instead of a Victorian feel). I think my favourite was the '85 American production since the actress playing Alice is the same age as the character (nearly), and the Jabberwocky was scary to me at 10!

51:20 "We've got a Mother, yes, we've got a Mother!" (Melody line "borrowed" from the song "Wendy" from the classic Mary Martin version of 'Peter Pan'.) AND, if that wasn't enough, at 51:51 , there is the melody line from "You Are Sixteen" from "The Sound of Music". Moose Charlap's songs for "Alice" are all duds. The lyrics are abysmal. Nanette Fabray was disappointed with the program.
