As someone who studied like advanced calculus n shit and has forgotten all about it, this scares me. The amount of math I have done in my life has genuinely given me PTSD to the point that I start feeling a cold chill run down my spine and start sweating at the sight of any kind of math Edit: I can't keep watching this. It genuinely hurts me but the animation is 10/10 (context. Studied for like about more than half a year to get into university and it needed advanced math, I didn't get in and in return I got PTSD from online classes wanting me to do 20+ pages and 1 test every day. I didn't get smarter, I just got an irrational fear for math)

How can any one infinity be smaller than another? Isnt that the point of infinity
@elainasynranelt Жыл бұрын
@@danielwoods3896 It’s super advanced math. I am not qualified to explain it. Look up the aleph series if you’re interested. There are a bunch of great youtube videos on it too.
@UnevenerGgc2 Жыл бұрын
@@danielwoods3896The easiest way to think about it is to compare how many natural numbers (0, 1, 2, 3, …) numbers there are, versus numbers between 0 and 1 (0.1, 0.35, 0.14, etc). The amount of numbers between 0 and 1 is larger than the amount of natural numbers because of the uncountability found in numbers between 0 and 1 despite both being infinite. So therefore we call the infinity of numbers between zero and 1 an uncountable infinity, and the natural numbers a countable infinity. Aleph Null is more complicated, but it actually does make sense to consider the “sizes of different infinities”

I like how Mr Stik jumped when he saw the root of -1. That one is actually a paradox. By the rules of math, there ARE no roots for negative numbers. Certain observable phenomenon however, can ONLY be described using these non-existent roots. Any time we look mathematically at anything that spins, vibrates or does anything repeatedly and those negative roots pop out. So basically higher level math can take a bit of imagination to work your head around.

Funny thing, the rules of mathematics are prescriptive instead of descriptive As long as something functions properly, it's valid. Complex numbers are now a canon extension of the reals

if math was taught correctly all the art kids would be good at it. people who are good at math are essentially playing with blocks in their mind until calculus. then they can start playing with cloth in their minds. unfortunately, the confusing symbols used to describe math distances us further and further from playing with blocks and cloth the farther we get from addition and subtraction. as does the increasingly complex rule set for manipulating the blocks and cloth meant to simulate what the outside world would do to them. the answer to a volume of an unknown shape question should either be the volume as a number, or a mold to make a container the shape and size of what the equation describes so that they can just measure it themselves.
