The one episode where I truly respected Endeavor. 1) He's trying to patch things up, even though he knows it's not going to do much. 2) He knows he's a very horrible person to his family, but he still tries. 3) He's only been told once by his wife what her favorite flower is, and he's never forgot about it. That means something. 4) As Hawks himself said, Endeavor was the only one seriously trying to surpass the symbol of peace. This also explains why he was pissed at All Might when he looked like a skinny mofo fighting AFO. 5) He raised his right arm, which is the opposite of All Might's, to symbolize that he's the new number one hero. All Might is the symbol of peace. To me, Endeavor is the symbol of hope. The hope that even if symbol of peace is gone, the heroes will still do their job. The hope that even a disgusting human being like Endeavor, can work to become a better person. The hope that even when Endeavor was down, so long as his fire burns brightly, he will never stop fighting. (Hell, he propelled himself with his own fire since he was paralyzed after getting hit hard). Yes, Endeavor is a bad, bad person, but that does not necessarily make him a hopeless human being.

So, fun fact: I had a completely different understanding about Endeavor as a character until this part of the story. See, during Todoroki's flashback, we see Endeavor explain to Shoto "She tried to hurt you, so I put her in a hospital." I had interpreted that not as "She's not well, so we're getting her some help," but as "You're an important tool for my ambition of surpassing All Might, and she's a proven risk-factor to the mission. I have removed that risk-factor from the equation." Because of anecdotes from Inasa and Stain, and this interpretation, and endeavor's selfish demeanor as a hero, I had been viewing Endeavor as a competitive anti-hero with semi-villainous traits who, by watching All Might from the #2 position, learned to desire to be something more, and truly started to confront these questions after the Kamina incident, once he was now in the #1 spot. It wasn't until we learn about the flowers that I realized I had been slightly misinterpreting his character arc, and I think part of that ambiguity is what made him such a popular character. Both our views were probably valid interpretations until this clarification.
@nicolaspereyra420 Жыл бұрын
I cannot agree with the part of "Endevor had good intentions" the guy did everything with the selfish reason of surpassing all might. He didn't train his kid so that he would be better, he did that for his ego. At this point if he wanted to confront his past he should've come clean about it, what he did was child abuse and he should've been in prison for it, heroes should not be above the law. If he really wanted to atone he should have admitted everything to the press and pay for his crimes
@wolfking4556 Жыл бұрын
The thing about your first point is: it's basically every parent's nature to do that. Our kids are how we keep our presence in this world way beyond our physical ability to keep staying here. Endeavor's mind is set on "If I won't be able to surpass All Might, I will make sure my child does that in my place" the same way your average parent would think "If I can't rise above this rotten system I will make sure my child does that in my place", through higher level education, through providing opportunities that in their own experience they didn't have so that their kid will make it where they failed. But what do you do when the "economy" that allows you to rise above the level of your predecessors isn't in education and opportunity, but in genetics? That's what happened with Endeavor, pushed to an extreme Now, his actual methods were awful in itself, no mistake there, but at his core he is basically any father ever when he pushes his desires for the future of his bloodline too far, but nobody can really say that his intentions were bad because, at the end of the day, even if there's ego behind that, having a hero that is even better than All Might is in itself a pretty positive thing to have in the world regardless of how satisfying you feel being that hero

Never gave up, and pushed his natural-born quirk to its utmost limit to the point that it drove him to insanity... Also, “Bioengineered human... Nomu. Yes, he doesn't have any manual or instructions on what to do, but his arc takes up a good chunk of the story and that’s really it. His arc mostly consists of him talking about how sorry he is without much action to show for it unfortunately. The fact that he's still perfectly content with keeping his job and earnings without any question is definitely weird enough, but I would excuse this a bit more if he atones a lot after the Toya reveal in season 6, but unfortunately, he ends up doing the polar opposite, which just makes his lack of action before season 6 feel all the more cheap imo.

I think the most important part of Endeavor's character arc is realising just how much his family means to him, and that's highlighted by his change in perspective about being Number 1. Originally, it was a selfish, egotistical goal that consumed him. Now, all he wants is for his family to respect him as a father and husband again, and being the greatest hero alive is the only way he knows how to show his dedication. Yeah, this is my favourite episode in this whole show. I genuinely don't understand why people dislike s4 just because it had a few slice of life episodes.

And thats why Endeavor is objectively the best character in mha.

I'd say this is about where I started to be cool with Endeavor as a character. Still was resistant to liking him, but he has shown change, he has improved, and he most certainly earns his tights.

Oh, I never realized that my favourite scene that came out of this fight was actually in season 5. Well I guess I'll wait until the next episode to comment.

Hate on Endeavor as much as you want but this episode cemented him as my favorite character from the series.

Some people felt S4 dragged a bit, or they weren't super interested in the Yazuza arc. And I totally understand, but not reaching the final 2 episodes of the season is a damned shame. They're so awesome.

IMO the creator seems to have added a nod to another shonen protag. The pink haired boy with the yellow scarf looks a lot like nasty dragoneel from Fairytail. He is also a fire user so he would totally simp for endevor.

In the dub, the VA for Natsu voiced that person because he saw the similarities and asked to voice them xD

Man, I really didn't like Endeavor. Outside of what we saw of Shoto's backstory painting him as a monster, he was just an asshole who stood against all the main characters just because of his dumb ego, plus his powers were boring and generic and his design was just kind of meh This is the episode that made Endeavor my favorite character
