The biggest thing you can do in the game is the QUE system where you can A: assign AI to the AI and B: force them to chain attacks with you to perform COMBOS...which do way more damage than spamming your main character.

Problem is, not every character has this behaviour, so you can't tell them to do this. Apparently, on console you can use the records menu to modify your teamates AI, however, that menu is broken on PC making it so all we can do is delete stuff that's already there or swap things around, but not create new behaviours or modify existing ones.

There is an active art skill in the Scout EX that allows you to do Solo Chain Burst, might wanna note that down if you find yourself solo-ing or dueling someone. Also, Super Art status also allows your controlling characting to do Solo Chain Burst as well, I found out while dueling 1v1

In addition, if you equip the Passive skill to allow +1 Skill Connect EX, you could do an entire Lv 3 Chain Burst by yourself with the previously mentioned methods

I've been trying to give this game a chance and it honestly feels like this game the majority of the time wants me to not like it. I feel like I could write a 5 page review as to all my grievances of this game having played past games and being dumbfounded at how they seemed to have not improved on a lot of stuff at times that seem obvious, but the biggest gripe I have is that I have to watch youtubers make videos like this to make the game make any sense because the game itself appears to not want to do it for itself. And I'm sure someone will be like "but they do! 4head", but to that all I can say is "Intuitively? At a good pace of when you should understand these mechanics? In a way that's memorable and articulated so it's fully understandable and instantly applicable to the situation at hand?" Because you can't be serious if you answer yes to all those questions. While I'm sure some are applicable to some mechanics, it's not a universal concept and it frustrates me because I really do want to love this game but as of right now I feel like I've wasted 25 hours of my life so far because the game just wants me to not like it.

I feel like it's kind of intuitive but there's depth if you want (chain burst, soul linkage, parrying/deflecting etc) and you're rewarded for it. A lot of MMOs did something similar to this game where auto attacks are just for generating mana and a majority of your damage comes from skill spamming. Maybe you just never played any games like that and it's not your fault.

I feel the exact same way. I never had this issue with either Lost Song or Fatal Bullet. Yet this game comes along and pulls the "forget what you know" Black Ops 4 card. It frustrates me how this game expects me to memorize every little bit of the combat system on top of everything else.

@@BlueKazuki So I'm about 50 hours into the game now and I've learned a bit more but there's still lots I can't navigate through efficiently, even with the youtube videos. I've honestly played about 80% of the available MMOs since 2003. I started with FFXI and WoW and have been in and out of every one of them for some length of time. That said, I think it would have helped tremendously for the game to force you into doing these mechanics when they're introduced like many games do. Infact, if I recall, it did at the beginning. Unsure as to why it stopped, but I digress. The AI Learning and the Online feature to download behaviors if not very well refined. It's a good concept, but it feels like players who don't want to spend time trying to figure it out will likely never optimize it at all. I still am not sure if I'm even doing it right despite watching videos of people trying to break it down. I've started to come to enjoy parts of it now, even though I think some of the sword skills are virtually impossible to make any use of because you could just play efficiently using half the trees anyway, maybe I haven't explored enough but with certain weapons it's definitely true. Maybe they're intended to go on your party members, but unless you're all using the same weapon IDK how you'd make it work. But honestly, and I'll wrap it up with this: The game engine needed to be something else. The clunky recovery periods are grating sometimes, the janky physics on terrain are infuriating sometimes, the camera is seemingly developed by satan himself, it basically reminds me of any Illusion soft game I've ever played (I'm sure others who know what I'm talking about can attest). This game coulda benefited from not taking the Bethesda approach of using the same engine for 10 years. If somehow they didn't do that, it doesn't show at all. But I've played past games and this seems exactly the same to me.

Can't disagree. I must have searched and experimented for over an hour before I figured out on the PC how to cast all eight sacred arts. I could use the four skills that were single button skills, the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock skills but to cast the water spell? Frustrating as hell.

Thats a good guide. At the begining I though the combat was just weird after watching all the streamings, it felt diferent from what they had been showing, but then I started to unlock usefull passive skills, and practiced the combat a lot and the experience seems completly different now, Im enjoying the combat, its fun and satisfying. But I still think the allies doing nothing during fights is a bug, I dont think its normal that they just stand there doing nothing.

My main problem was with how the enemies kept interrupting my normal attacks so I could do combos with the katana and rapiers. So I guess I should focus more on using sword skills (although they keep getting interrupted too). There's also the problem with how the camera can go all over the place with flying enemies.

Y' know what, I kinda like the game so far. (Well, the issues still suck) I'm not having my expectations so high, cause it's SAO game. But honestly, the combat is my cup of tea. I tackle enemies 10+ levels higher than me, that so OP, onehit from it (yeah I'm dumb) kill my characters. It takes 25 minutes straight to kill it. But the combat system is really good once you get used to it. It's not just hack and slash battle. And it's not too quick for me, cause I'm bad at fast paced games.

I'll have to warn you. The optimization for the game is not in a good state right now. You'll probably experience alot of frame drops and maybe sluggish controls. However, don't let that put you off as the game is really fun and the Developers have said they're working on fixing the optimization. I hope you'll have fun with both SAO and Ghost of Tsushima!

I'm at chapter 4 on ps4 and I gotta say I couldn't put this game down for two days, its way to fun and it's multiplayer is everything we dreamed of. I was in Nolangarth while someone else was in Sothercorin. The combat system is awesome and I have a great combo set for my one handed weapon, I use the fold steel sword and it works great. My only explanation issue is that I saved while in a multiplayer game with a level 50 and it forces my story to match their story in the single player mode, which caused me to lose some progress. Also, my ally skill is broken so hope they fix that bug. The running is fine just wish it stopped immediately when I stopped. I hope they add some form of double jump cause some treasures and statues are impossible to get to. As far as frame rate I have no real issue except some like normal loading in environment and some to much graphical effect on screen. But overall I give this game a 9/10, definitely a success. Just wish there wasn't so much talking!

you should experiment with the sacred arts, the wind one level 1 increases how high u jump, and your falling speed. and metal level 1 also places a block that u can stand on. Might help with grabbing those chests :)

The only issue for me is the fact that the combat can feel unresponsive at times. Like there is a huge delay in pressing the block button or skills, and then them actually happening. It's not as bad for skills, but for blocks it is atrocious because I need to predict enemy attacks in order to be able to block them, if I block when I see the animation it's too late

One small wrinkle with the Chain Burst system, when in Super Art mode I was able to use skills and cause a Chain Burst (this was in duel mode too). Unsure if it was a bug or just something you missed but either way good vid!

I've never like the Hollow series of SAO games as much. I always preferred Lost song, or Fatal bullet style for SAO games. But I must say Lycoris is a nice middle ground for me. Also not a lot of guides covering stuff in the game yet so it's nice having to figure things out by myself again in a video game, just wish the soundtrack was a bit better. I've opted for playing OG SAO music on youtube while I play haha

Not sure I'm correct, but it might be because: - your teammates are not in combat (they have not attacked the enemy / buffed you) - you need to lock your target At least that's what I think I have observed. Might be wrong.

Still getting used to the controls. Currently still using Kirito’s Night Sky sword but it’s stopped using memory release and only uses the default Finish Attack. Also wondering why Ally attack sometimes only allows Kirito to attack and the animation ends.

Can anyone help me with the bladelock system? I feel like I'm missing something, the prompts pop up so fast I have a hard time hitting the prompts. I lose almost all the bladelocks during duels. Does anyone have any tips how to win those? I just can't seem to figure out when I'm supposed to hit the button input. Thanks!

It’s kind of random (depends on your input) but you just hit the buttons as they prompt on the screen. Just spamming the button during the animation will make you loose the blade lock. I only won a blade lock once but have consistently broken even on them after I stopped spamming the button so I couldn’t tell you what dictates a win condition. Hope this helps

What I do is only time my press to the first one's appearance then just tap the button, not mash it but tap it in a bit of a rhythm like x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x. Takes some getting use to but once you get it down, it's the same with every blade clash. And will make later duels easier when enemies like to block normal hits and dodge skills due to them being stunned after a successful bladelock.

It does cover the earlier part of the Alicization anime, but it's not in a way that can really replace it honestly. It's good enough if you just want to play the game though. It's fun to play, but it does have it's issues that Bandai Namco say they're going to patch. So it might be worth waiting and keeping an eye out for that.

I'd say if you liked the previous SAO games, then get it. The game starts off *really* slow though. Like 5 minutes of fighting and then 20-30 minutes of dialogue. That's the entirety of Chapter 1 for the first 10-15 hours. When you get to Chapter 2 the game really opens up with a lot more gameplay and exploration over dialogue, which makes it a lot better.

you missed the number one way to deal damage. unlock level 4 chain burst - > Build 3.0 risk -> Open a chain with MC > Close Chain 1 with partner A > Close chain 2 with partner B > Close chain 3 with partner C > Close Chain 4 using finisher arts. you can deal easily 1m damage at level 30 using that combo.

One step at a time. Like I said at the start of the video, this is about what you can do at the very basic level without needing anything special. Having to go out of your way to unlock a skill or find equipment kinda goes against that.

hell you dont even need chainburst 4 - you can do it with chain burst three for still insane damage.

I read somewhere that you need to look out for the skill rank of a skill. Like you cant combo a rank 3 skill with a rank 1. Is that true ?

So was wondering how you side dodge around the enemy, with a keyboard it's F key right? But for me it doesn't dodge sometimes while locking on the enemy, is it just me or the game is still buggy?

And if you are still struggling: Use a Berserker Kirito with a Katana. Berserker is OP and Katana is still OP Katana. Easy damage

To start off with, unlock a set of sword skills to use with your weapon of choice. Just don't neglect your one handed sword too much, since they make you use it for certain fights in chapter 1.

I‘ll buy when they fix the fps. Sadly there won’t be more then 30 on ps4. Sao HR has done 60fps so why not the new Game ?
