You mentioned Event Horizon. I think that was an underrated & under appreciated, movie. Can’t wait to see what this new Alien series brings to the table.

@@cjm753bc8 I remember rewinding and pausing the VHS from blockbusters so I could see all the gory frames from the montage of violence scene. It helped open my mind 🤣

im hoping we get an actual explanation how WY knew about the Xenos already! I asked this question on reddit and I got the David answer which really infuriates me but someone else said it was most likely the signal and that they had fully deciphered it! I heard from Mr H reviews live archive videos along with guys from midnights edge and he says that there are hints and that "if you know where to look, youll get it" but probably didnt end up in the final cut cause I cant see any hints at all in Romulus!

It cannot be anywhere near as bad as Alien Romulus.

I had high expectations for Romulus and was disappointed. I have low expectations for this, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Have you seen his Fargo show? I just think his writing there is definitely something to consider. Also, Ridley is not involved. I am speculating of course but I truly believe this holds more promise than Romulus 👍

If it's set in the 2090s, that also means long drama with nothing particularly interesting happening Xenomorph-wise. Of course, you could come up with some 1) archeological Xeno find 2) some space contraption falling to Earth - but these sounds a bit lame to me. Not convinced that 2120 would make it any different.

It must have some intimate connection to the events of Alien. That's only how I see it, at least. God I hope it works.

If I might be so bold, I'd like to offer a few opinions (and facts) about the Alien story (and I purposely avoid the word ''franchise''). The continuing story of the android David has no place in the wider Alien story. I have read convincing accounts about Sir Ridley Scott where he considered the problem (or otherwise) of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) to be of paramount importance, hence Blade Runner, Ash and MU-TH-UR in Alien, David in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. He didn't say as much, this is inferred. IMHO he is certainly entitled to his opinion but the Alien universe is not the place to explore it. The possibility that David created the Xenomorph as we know it from Alien is insulting and completely undermines the Cosmic Horror aspect of the original film, as does the reduction of the Space Jockey to a giant albino humanoid in a bio-suit. It is a slap in the face to fans of the original movie. Sir Ridley needs to keep away from Alien from now onwards. If he wants to investigate A.I. let him do it elsewhere. I thought Alien Romulus did a pretty good job of restoring the Alien story and yes, I appreciate the final creature paid some homage to Prometheus, but that particular aspect died almost as soon as it was introduced. If Alien Earth is to also get us back on track and restore the faith, it needs to slot itself into the timeline of Alien (i.e. the Nostromo etc), Weyland-Yutani's nefariousness and also scare the existential shit out of us. Maybe too much of a tall order but I can dream 🙂 My point being, Alien was Cosmic Horror, it has not been for a long time. That needs to be restored. Now I know many people may not agree with me, they like Prometheus etc, but I'm sure there are others who do agree and want the Alien story to be dragged out of the mire. Thank you for reading and apologies for another wall of text - I WOULD makes videos but I'm not pretty enough.

Thanks very much for your input, buddy. I slightly disagree regarding AI, but only in terms of finding middle ground between Alien and Ridley's prequels. I agree that if that aspect is allowed to continue, then it may as well be some documentary about Elon Musk or whatever, and it WILL become detrimental to Alien, as you say. I think Blade Runner took us as far as we needed to go with the enigma of AI and its impact on humanity without oversaturating the topic. Therefore, maybe some middle ground for Alien, right? I also hope for some epic thrills for the series, and I'm wholeheartedly in agreement that the show should never forget why it is able to exist and pay respect to the beast in the best way possible: Good writing and a solid idea of where the story is headed before they even begin. Hawley has talked about the show's conclusion being at the forefront of how it was written. Thankfully, this means some cohesion for the overall story arc, unlike some shows that drift into oblivion with no direction. Time will tell but I have high hopes for this one, it feels about time we get something mature.
