Join Vincent and Tangella as they watch “Alien from LA” from 1988 with Kathy Ireland and William R. Moses.
In the 1988 science fiction film "Alien from L.A.," Kathy Ireland plays Wanda Saknussemm, a young woman from Los Angeles whose life takes a fantastical turn following the news of her archaeologist father's disappearance. Wanda embarks on a journey to find him, leading her to the underground civilization of Atlantis, where adventure and danger await. Mistaken for a spy in a world where surface dwellers are considered aliens, Wanda navigates a treacherous path filled with mysterious government agents and ruthless criminals. With the help of Gus, a miner, and Charmin', a charming rogue, she strives to clear her name and rescue her father, uncovering the secrets of Atlantis along the way. "Alien from L.A." offers a unique blend of science fiction and adventure, loosely inspired by Jules Verne's classic tales, with a touch of whimsy reminiscent of "The Wizard of Oz."
Cast:
Kathy Ireland as Wanda Saknussemm
William R. Moses as Guten "Gus" Edway

Much respect to Kathy Ireland. I Googled her and see she's still married to her husband Greg Olsen since 1988, which is a doctor. They had 3 children together and are still happily married. What an outstanding life they've obviously had together and I hope they are happily married until they pass.

This is a Cannon Group film, released in 1988, directed by Albert Pyun. Cannon was on its last legs as a studio- they had released tons of B-movies in the 80s like Masters of the Universe, Texas Chainsaw Massacre II, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, The Delta Force, Breakin', and many more. But by this point, they had almost no money. You've got the origin story of this movie a bit wrong, though. Cannon had made the Journey to the Center of the Earth movie in 1986 and made it a Christmas movie, but shelved it after they hated the rough cut. Over a year later, they approached Albert Pyun, who wanted to make his own Journey-based movie. They agreed to finance Alien from L.A. for $1 million if he filmed new scenes and re-edited their old unreleased film. That way they could cut out the Christmas stuff, add new scenes with Kathy Ireland, and connect the two films' plots. Thus, a movie mostly filmed in 1986 came out in 1989 as a sequel to a film released in 1988. Anyway, thanks for the upload! This is one of the few Cannon Group films not available on streaming options in the U.S. The picture quality is fantastic. Is this sourced from the Vinegar Syndrome blu-ray, by chance?

"Edgy" future children not grokking this style. They're behaving that way on purpose. It's called "acting" when people pretend to be imaginary characters in fiction. Nobody is trying to fool you into thinking this is "realistic" by making all the people mean and all the objects dirty. Back in the 80's everybody understood that it was all made up for fun...not "realism", even kids.

I enjoyed the movie. It's concept and dialog were products of the 80's a time in my life where living was fun. Dick Clark even said that was one of our greatest decades. Technology was creeping in on us but just enough to make the silly and curious side of our minds at the time enjoy where we felt things headed. Now we look back and remember the joy and carefree times of our lives. Keep these crazy 80's coming.

That is Kathy Ireland's real voice, if you listen to interviews and talk shows she had a very high squeaky voice, as someone else in a reply said she got voice training to learn how to speak lower and with a stronger Timber I am sure now all these decades later it is just second nature and her natural voice it does sound much better it was hard to take her seriously unfortunately being born with that high squeaky Minnie Mouse voice. Not her fault she did something about it.
