I completed this game back in 2014 and swore never to play it again because of how stressful it was. I'm now replaying it in 2024, and this game is both frustrating and addictive at the same time. I'll spend 20 minutes trying to clear an area, get killed, and turn the game off. Only then to 20 minutes later be playing it again.

When you mentioned the framerate... It's ABSOLUTE MUST to cap your framerate to 100 or below it. Otherwise audio and script engine might get stuck or glitch out. You don't want that, because it can lead to a total show-stopper bug and then you have to restart the level you're on. If you want to utilize full refresh rate of your screen (like if you have 240hz screen), use a frame doubler/multiplier like AMD's AFMF (control panel setting) or external program like Lossless Scaling to fill in the missing frames instead. That won't affect the engine.

Great to see you doing a review on this amazing older game. Back before release I got the chance to play test this in VR native (they never did officially release VR in the final version but you can get a decent experience with an unofficial mod called MotherVR) and talk about something that will scare the piss out of you. As a long time fan of the original alien films it was glorious to play, actually crouching down to hide under something or crawl through a vent and physically lean around corners while being stalked by the xeno in a well built Alien game in VR was an experience I will never forget and heartily recommend.

I really like the idea of going back and looking at bangers from the past. I find my library is full of steam sale debris and this is a great way to find what holds up. I played Prey a while back through this channel and I would have never have given it a second glance. Thanks Scarlet

This game remains in my top five favorite games and is my favorite Survival Horror game. I wish we would at least get a Next Gen Version of this badass addition to the Alien Universe. Now would be the best time for it with its Tenth Anniversary rapidly approaching, Alien Romulus now releasing and an Alien TV show in the works!

16:14 About the space colonization race that is mentioned in the game - it is true that it is said Seegson (formerly Sieg & Son) lead the charge in that colonization race and that they were at the forefront of innovation and development...in their own "Eye on Seegson" **propaganda magazines** that they published. But looking at other, independent reports made by journalists such as Julia Jones, we learn that is only smth they [Seegson] wanted you to believe, but was far from the truth. It isn't just Sevastopol station - for pretty much their entire existence Seegson were known as a company that were running and making second tier stuff, usually that was essentially a knock off on the original designs made by their much more successful competitors (W-Y). They made a solid business out of it, but ofc, were playing only a second fiddle on the market. The way the space race unraveled is a different story in of itself, but essentially - with invention of FTL many corps (inlcuding frontrunners such as W-Y) were desperate to ride on the hype and be the first to break new grounds in order to grow their own empire, which lead many to adopt the same colonization strategy that was employed in Solar System - space stations. But it didn't take too long to find out that this strategy just wasn't sustainable, especially so at the enormous rate many of these corps were doing it, and as it goes these corps begun realizing this way too late. As such, space got populated with ghost towns that were just too far away to maintain and sustain. One of them was Sevastopol station, originally built by GeoFund Investor. They later sold it to Seegson cause, again, they couldn't sustain it (neither Seegson, especially after the Thedus-Earth trade line got re-routed) Weyland-Yutani (or just Weyland Industries back then), the *smart* evil bastards that they are, relatively quickly realized the failed prospect of space stations for deep space colonization and took a more cautious approach as well as laid focus on the development of their Terraforming Tech for colonization, which saw great potential. Besides, they simply had the resources to, as is said in the game, "weather this storm"

The bugs are tied to framerate. Anything above 60 breaks the engine. It’s a 2014 thing.

I just finished my second playthrough. I never thought a game would scare me more than Resident Evil 1.

The android in the Alien Romulus pics is very Working Joe in appearance too.

I love the length of this game. I think it feels really long because you don't know where you're going the first play through.

This game scared me shitless back in the day. never played the DLC, so i've you want to show it to us...
@SolidusSnake0016 ай бұрын
The DLC isn't really anything special (aside from the 2 based in the original film). I liked the Salvage variant of the Survivor mode added in the Safe Haven DLC. The rest are just new maps for the Survivor mode and new characters to play as which just changes your starting equipment.

@lapineee it makes me freak out in anger not fear. I hate games where I can’t get to where I need to be because there’s a tiny trash can is in the way. I also hate games where I’m perused by an enemy I can’t harm even though is should be able to in some form. It turns into walk around for a bit hide from alien. Walk around hide from androids. The end.
