In Dec, 1979 I was space crazy... pestered mum to take me and a few neighbourhood kids to see ALIEN for my 12th birthday, There was screaming, kids hiding under cinema chairs, panic attacks and mental damage. I LOVED IT!!

I just learned the other day that he was offered the role of Captain Picard in Star Trek the Next Generation but turned it down. While I think Patrick Stewart owns the role, I can still kind of imagine Kotto playing him and doing it well.

OMFG, I mean, some films DO have utterly misleading trailers. Imagine if they marketed Alien as a wacky comedy back in 1979 (granted, this style of comedy and this style of trailer is more 80:ies and onwards I feel, but still). Imagine going in thinking that you're in for a delightful comedy romp? That's like expecting a refreshing glass of soda on a hot summer day and instead getting boiling water ;). So much worse than if you _knew_ that you were in for boiling water ;D... I think? :)

I begged my mom to take me to see this when it came out...knowing full well it was a Horror movie. I just told her it was a Sci Fi movie. I feel guilty all these years later but she was a real trooper though and made it through the movie with me...but she would bring it up every now and again how I had damaged her psychologically...for life...and it was my fault.
