It’s not garbage, It’s HOT SHIT. As a huge Alien fan, I was damn right insulted by this movie and I left in anger. It’s like getting slapped by your biggest idol and then getting laughed at, while spilling your food all over the fuckin place and leaving knowing it was all a waste of money. That’s how I felt. Oh well, at least we got Alien and Aliens, and even for me personally Isolation which I love. ❤️ that to me is how you do a sequel/prequel.

I’ve not actually seen Romulus yet … but please god do not tell me it’s worse than the abortion that is Resurrection… that’s not possible. One aspect of Romulus that has to be applauded is the return to the Giger design of the human skull under the dome and the use of practical effects… I will reserve judgement until I’ve seen it … however.. . . . It can’t be worse than resurrection .

How do these 20 year old company slaves have extensive knowledge of not only exactly how space flight works but the inner workings of top secret WY ships, did they pick up all this knowledge at the library or in the mines? Also the company spent close to 60 years locating Ripley pod so they could retrieve the alien, but an whole ass spacestation full of xenos and eggs, they controled they just let drift around in space?

Just returned from the cinema having now seen Romulus. Firstly let’s get one thing straight immediately, Romulus is not even close to the masterpiece that is Alien 1979 or Aliens or even Alien 3. It’s …marginally better than Resurrection but that is hardly an endorsement. Positives and negatives of this film: The positives : The set design and overall look of the film is well done. The future retro dirty grime of the first film is replicated satisfactorily. The Sound effects in my opinion were also good, particularly the technological sound effects reminiscent of the first film. The Alien itself …what was seen of it was “fine” the fact that the “ skull under the dome “ returned was appreciated. Though the jaw was …too much on a hinge in certain shots. Still appreciated the use of practical effects over the use of cgi. The face huggers … visually…also fine…aside from some colour discrepancies. And that is all the positives… .. . The negatives: Everything else. The script … sounds like a script… and is not how real people would speak in that situation. By comparison Alien 1979 dialogue is completely believable . The crew sound and act like real people in Alien 1979, in Romulus I did not believe the characters believed their own words throughout the entire film. The Andy android is just irritating. As we’re all the characters. None of the characters have any substance, did not care about a single one of them. The face huggers can apparently be removed without any real effort or danger by simply …making them a bit cold … The face huggers are easily swatted away or actually held by hand and thrown away. Which is all ridiculous. The face huggers …detection… method of sound and body heat within the dynamics of the way the characters acted in their actions made no sense. The giant vagina on the wall while in theory is an interesting idea was so badly executed and was so visually terrible it was laughable. The Ash rook android looked like it was straight from a video game, a real actor would have been preferable or the studio should have taken more time to produce a believable cgi version …which this wasn’t. The “ offspring” … looked like the abysmal abortion hybrid from Resurrection with an engineers head shoved on top and was just a terrible design considering there is so much great design work to draw from I find it astounding how such a horrendous design gets the approval of Ridley Scott who was so impressed with Gigers terrifying and yet beautiful original Alien . There is so many aspects of this film that I could pull apart but suffice to say …it’s extremely disappointing. I think all hope of a decent quality Alien film is all but lost.

@23:00 - You are absolutely right. There would have been a revolt in real life if Wylan-Yutani was in the habit of arbitrarily denying travel passes. Which in turn would have been a better plot device to run with to explain how five teenagers could just hop into a billion dollar piece of equipment (undetected) and fly into outer space without any questions asked. I posted in another review that had there been some type of labor strike going on and security forces were either distracted or apart of the strike to where it was a free-for-all, that would have been a better and more believable setup. As opposed to the non-chalant Cowboy Bee-Bop lift off and departure we got instead.

@03:16:04 - You must gave missed it because of quick intercuts, but the Alien saved Rain so that a nearby Facehugger could get her. Somehow, I guess by virtue of being a spider-like Alien, it managed to scale the verticle walls of the elevator shaft. However just before it sprang on her the elevator dropped from above and cleared the shaft while Rain hid in a corner. As did the Alien on the opposite side. When the Alien came out from the side of the shaft to then finish Rain, that's when Andy jumped on him from above with the Pulse rifle (that should have been empty by then) and stole that famous line from Ripley.

This movie which we may call Alien Ridiculous, is a joke on the fans. Its cheap and meaningless. The premise of the story is a load of hot manuer. Lacks imagination, integrity and not a shred of imagination. Stupid plots and stupid characters. Stupidly envisaged and portrayed. A perfect way to soil an amazing IP.

Alien 1979 is a true masterpiece in film. Aliens is a great action movie but it’s not a masterpiece. Alien 3 is underrated. Alien resurrection is absolute trash, almost a spoof of Aliens, the new born hybrid in resurrection or as I call it the skinned gibbon is reason enough to state resurrection is the worst Alien movie. AvP is terrible . AvP Requiem I do not even consider a film, more of a video that two morons made in their lunch break after watching AvP. Prometheus and Covenant destroyed the Alien lore and made the Alien into a Frankenstein monster created by a mad scientist in the shape of David which destroys the mysterious nature of Alien being …guess what …a fucking Alien … now it’s a fucking experiment created in a fucking cave by fucking c3po. I had high hopes for Romulus … I’ve not seen it yet , the screen shots looked impressive, even some of the reviews gave me hope… after your review Mat I now am braced for disappointment…however I will reserve judgement until I’ve seen it.

Honestly after Resurrection, Prometheus and Covenant it was.. not bad. I enjoyed a lot of stuff about it and will definitely get it on DVD when it comes out. I went in with ZERO expectations (after being hurt so many times) and didn't watch any trailers or read anything about it, and I came out saying "huh, not bad." I'd give it 6/10.

@@MisterAcid Nowhere near as bad as Resurrection in my opinion, hope you enjoy it! I'd actually put it in fourth place after the first three films... but quite a way behind Alien 3. With that said I do enjoy watching Resurrection every few years, I just watch it on the level of Pitch Black or Priest or something and see it as a standalone B-movie.

@04:11:45 - I have a senaky supicion that if Alien Romulus turns out to be successful, Ridley and Alverez, will come back with a part two and call it Alien: Remus, so they can show what happened on the other half of the space station between the time they found Big Chap to when he blew out the hull. As of now we are being led to think it was his acid blood that made the big hole in the floor of the lab. But what if it was an Alien egg that he dropped after being subjected to a Waylan -Yutani experiment?.

The thing about alien 3 is, 'ripley' got 'infected' by an alien during cryo sleep AND there was also a face hugger aboard the 'ship' (or vessel) during the escape that managed to infect the (dog or ox) apparently depending the version you watched) but she killed the queen! did the queen lay more then one egg before she got killed? how did she manage to lay eggs while she was being hunted by 'ripley' 🤣 suspension of disbelief is a thing I guess, still love the movie, don't think about it too much is my advice I guess 😐

I definitely agree about having to suspend disbelief. I always just consider that the xenomorph's main characteristics are adaptation and survival. I actually really like Alien 3 (the Assembly Cut).

to me it was always obvious that the queen laid eggs while hidden in the landing gear compartment, and the facehuggers somehow entered the escape pod.

The Queen was actually "hunting" Ripley... I guess you can assume she laid eggs inside the ship... Before the final fight. There is however a BIG problem with that logic (it is the ONLY logic though).... Is that the Queen, well, she SEEMED to lay eggs with her sack!!! You remember? That long, thick white-ish stuff that comes out of her pelvis... You see it at work when Ripley steps into the "queen chamber"... She was actually finishing laying an egg. Although if you notice... The sack seems to be accumulating eggs. Because the sack is somewhat transparent and you can distinguish some round things (eggs?) inside it. Now... You can go 2 ways with that... Either the sack is VITAL for the process of producing/laying eggs. Because the eggs may require some sort of maturing before being laid. Or it's just an accumulating/laying mechanism, which makes it somewhat irrelevant. And therefore the Queen can produce/lay eggs WITHOUT the sack. Although... When you see the sack... Not only the sack is somewhat transparent but ALSO the eggs are transparent! And that means that the eggs are not fully developed while inside the sack. Therefore the Queen laying those 2 eggs... It's BS!!! So yeah.... Of course we get suspension of disbelief! What do you expect??? If we didn't have that... There wouldn't be any movies!!! - Hey dude you want to check that abandoned ship that we have NOOOoooo idea what's inside of it.... It can have billions or DEATH.... What you say?? - Yeah... NO! I'm good thanks. THE END Would you pay to see that movie??? Noooooooooo. You pay to see WILD, CRAZY and FANTASTIC sh*t! And you hope it has some sense/realism to it. I felt it was a great movie right up until the moment the girl got the face hugger attached then the reveal of the Ash Clone android which was horrible CGI and pointless as it wasnt even the same android from the original movie. by the ending I just felt numb and was so glad to leave the cinema, I feel as though im just now too old to enjoy any of these movies anymore as they offer nothing to anyone who has seen any of the older movies, everything is just rehashed crap youve seen a thousand times before, nothing original, nothing interesting, nothing new. Imagine all this talent and time being spent on an original idea.

Disney have destroyed the last vestiges of what was left, with the help of Ridley Scott, who has proactively taken a sledgehammer to the Alien franchise and smashed the entire film series to bits. Alien never needed a backstory Alien never needed convoluted plots Alien never needed Disney or Ridley Scott to foul up a once brilliant two film Alien masterclass. Star Wars, Terminator, and now Alien has been systematically destroyed by Hollywood. What comes after is inferior and agenda driven drivel.
