While I love the original Alien, Big Chap. I personally find it being found to be incredibly silly and over the top. As you know from the forums, I tend to be a bit too logic minded when it comes to the plausibility XD. The chances of finding a small dark object in the vastness of space is just stupid, and not to mention it was no where near the Nostromo wreckage when it was expelled from the shuttle. (which is where its found in Romulus) Big Chap being alive makes it even worse too as it apparently can survive over 15 years without air or food, which makes it borderline supernatural instead of being a living alien organism. The franchise is supposed to be science-fiction, not fantasy genre. Big Chap's survival actually undermines the accomplishments of Ellen Ripley as well. All that effort to expel it and incinerate it the shuttles thrusters and she apparently didn't kill the Alien.... Worse is that it means she didn't kill the Queen either. A badass fight with a power loader, a tense escape from the air lock, only for Romulus to say it didn't do anything because they could still be found alive.... Its strange but the sequels seem to really like undermining Ripley's efforts. Alien 3 undid her effort of saving Newt, Alien resurrection undid her sacrifice to prevent an organization to get Aliens. Heck even the crossover AVP prequels (granted they not canon) had the Aliens on earth all along. So much for trying to keep them from being brought back to earth or any place they could spread. Ideally Romulus should have had the intro either with the W-Y (or another company) ship going to a different planetoid that also had a signal or cache of eggs, or simply remove the intro all together and just leave how they got the aliens left as a mystery or simply explained mid-way through. The callbacks were unnecessary for sure. The 4th act needed a Xenomorph, not a hybrid. At least that is how I feel. Great video though, keep it up :)

Thank you for watching and the comment, I really appreciate it. Yeah, I completely get where you coming from, with how these stories tend to undermine what Ripley achieved, but for me personally, the inclusion of finding the original Xeno added a sense of real threat/horror to the story, but was cut short. It really solidified the idea of this creature being the "perfect organism"... but then that's also diminished when we get the reveal to its outcome. The movie lacked urgency and threat, i felt having a thread within its story that would attach itself to the Ellen Ripley story would give it this, but then also get why you would see it from the perspective of undermining the characters achievements. Its why I loved the Alien Isolation game/story, its that connection to the events that's already happened, the emotional beats. Though totally get your frustrations. I also completely agree with the new creature during the third act, even though I didn't hate it, i didn't love it either and it should have been a Xeno, especially Scorched. They attempted to give this particular Xeno a distinct character but felt short lived. Thanks again for the kind comments, really appreciate it.
