I’m so so happy that I bought every single EXperimental 12” during the early 90s. My all-time favorite is still Ray-Love “Symphony of Love” but the whole discography is stellar. I’ve probably said this before on this glorious channel but my favorite labels, while numerous, are especially EXp, Nu Groove, early Warp, and Atmosphere Records. 🖤

You can more or less do everything old hardware could do on a computer, including simulate the distortion and imprecise midi timing. Maybe get some tape recorders or an old sampler if you are really picky about the authentic sound. Only reason to get old hardware is if you enjoy the workflow and find it creatively stimulating.
