I'm not pooping on the achievement I know how much work 3D animations are. Huge! Weak points were the stool as a weapon, and where was the synthetic? Alien wouldn't have attacked the android....or eaten him, etc. Definitely the mood and tech of Alien recreated beautifully, definitely had that sense of growing dread and fear.

I write this message to the whole team: You, people, nailed it. This is IT. This is a true ALIEN movie. It has the grit, mystery, tension, drama, tempo, FANTASTIC use of music, understanable character that I couls relate to and the spirit of the original from 1979! Animation, writing, camera work, lightning, Waters using tools, weapons and her surroundings to survive. My only ×2 "but" is Waters going all WWE (scene with chair). but since her opponent was weakened by the shotgun blast and explosion,I suppose he could have fell to the chair hit :) Second, why didnt the Alien "finish the job" in when he had the occasion? Other than that, it's perfect. I still can't believe my luck to find this fantastic movie. Thank you for making this!!! Now, take this 500 000 000 $ and have fun. :)

They just continue to get better and better! This is by far the BEST! As one of my TOP idols, and the reason why I'm pushing forward to continue to learn this program, as I am just like you with being ONLY a film maker, NOT A 3D ARTIST, you inspire me to continue to be confident in my progress. The world we live in today tries to push you to invest in all of this high end technology, trying to convince you that the only way you can make a top notch 3D Animation movie, is to use Unreal Engine, Unity, or 3DSMax, and all of this other crap, being ONLY a story teller/filmmaker. This movie here signifies, and confirms, that you don't need a high end computer (monster or whatever they call it nowadays), the highest grade graphics cards, or anything of that sort, to put together a great quality looking movie altogether. I have always been one that was more into the story itself rather than focusing SO MUCH on visuals. You can have the best looking graphics on this earth in your movie, yet, tell a story at the brain capacity of a 1 year old, and then the 1 year old still may be better than what is presented by you, you know what I mean? Thank you for delivering amazing quality movies! Please continue to do so, as I will continue to push forward, so I can produce my first official movie, in hopes that it will be on this level, if not better because of your inspiration, among other heroes that are also doing their part to keep me encouraged and in the game as well. So, you are definitely my hero, TheDirector1974 (because I'm in the RL forums...), and I give you a ROSE, in honor of your display of perfection in my eyes at the level that I currently am, before you are six feet under! You are APPRECIATED!! :D

The atmosphere is just terrifying and I'm as anxious watching this as I was playing ALIEN:ISOLATION. Your time and effort has produced something that could easily have followed as a sequel. It's certainly gained it's place in the Alien universe. I would go so far as to say that I would pay to watch this in a movie theatre. A great use of Jerry Goldsmith's scores of ALIEN and OUTLAND. It's a fun story, everything makes sense in its context, the tension is there -- and something I think that goes unaddressed by a lot of us...you took the time to mix the sound and music really well. Really great to see someone pull off a massive project like this, basically on their own (with some help along the way). I know some people 'hate' on iClone (as some comments here indicate), but the long and short of it is: it works -- and it worked here. Three years in the making, The Message is a definite high point of the Iclone 7 life cycle. The story is a cat and mouse game very similar in tone to the original 1979 film with perhaps even more of the horror vibe thrown in. Its claustrophobic and tense with phenomenal sound design incorporating some of the original soundtrack and sound cues and has very good voice acting and loads of atmospheric foley. Set design and lighting also stand out with the interior of the spaceship feeling real and loaded with details and nooks and crannies for the protagonist (and the Alien) to hide within. The sets were riddled with late 70's analog technology that helped set the tone of the original film and they were flawlessly lit with flashing strobes, deep shadows and slimy surfaces all looking pitch perfect. I never saw any of the seams you might find in an Iclone feature like pass through, stilted animations or shot selection that is likely hiding some transgression. Instead the production drags you in and holds you for the 40+ minute runtime. Searching for critiques I felt the camera was a bit too active at the beginning but seemed to settle down a bit as the film progressed and the Alien was a bit too anthropomorphic running and jumping around like an action movie badass. That said, animating the motions of a human are hard enough but animating an imaginary creature must be more than a little bit difficult. Overall, file this in the Must See list.

This video is a masterpiece. And by the way, it wasn't the alien's best day : shot, knocked by a chair, knocked again by a headshot, and finally blown up...

Wow! As A Huge ALIEN Fan, I'm well impressed. It fills in a nice little gap giving your explanation as to why the Nostromo was diverted, with special orders (crew expendable), and you've put a lot of work into the production and story line. One critisim. When the alien is running, especially around corners, it is too upright, itdoesn't look 'natural'. But you've done a fantastic job. Bang tidy.

How cool! Opening titles using the music of Jerry Goldsmith (composer for the original 1979 film) was originally composed for Outland (1981), apparently part of the same "Alien" universe. I highly recommend that film as well.

Thanx. I thought the music would fit very well. Goldsmith made it in the same periode of time with the same orchestra. His score for "Alien" lacks of good action music, which I kind of needed for the final scene. I also thought that the main title for "Outland" was much more effective than the original main title for "Alien" ...

Rene Jacob's The Message definitely deserves an A for effort along with clear appreciation of the ALIEN mythos & enthusiasm for this project which while imperfect has a decent concept & is far from the worst ALIEN short ever, featuring several nice touches, including being a prequel of sorts to the original ALIEN (1979) film, demonstrating fighting spirit, showing an unassisted human dominating a Xenomorph & more. Attentive viewers will note the use of several cool graphic models et al goodies including a cassette tape/deck. And is it just me or did much of the graphic rendering look eerily similar to Silent Hill 2 for the PS2? In any case, The Message isn't perfect but I believe that for ALIEN fans it's worth a screening.
