Well technically it was the predators' fault. Sure the humans went in there and messed up some parts of their hunting trial, but them being unable to contain the Xenomorph outbreak was a bigger flaw in their part.

@@NoName-pd8pu The problem comes from that the Predators didn't design the mechanism to make the queen go back to being frozen after she's laid a few eggs to be sent into the sacrifice chamber. Instead she's still kept awake when the Xenos emerge which allowed her to summon the Xenos to her aid and free her.

@@robonaughtwell I see what you mean, but if I recall correctly, the predator trial required the ones taking the trial to kill off all the xenos and to contain the outbreak. If they failed they had to detonate a nuke to destroy the city.

Except the humans were literally lured in there by the Predators to use as hosts to breed Xenomorphs. If it weren’t for the energy signal that the Predators used to lure the expedition team to the pyramid’s location, the humans would never have known of its existence. So the humans only fulfilled their intended purpose. It was the failure of the Predators’ ability to contain the infestation once the Xenomorphs were bred that allowed the Queen to escape.

@@windowsVD I'm inclined to think that the Predators didn't lure the humans there, but didn't expect humans to be so advanced to have detected their EMP shit drilling machine and the heat signature that signaled the activation of the entire complex. It's always the same if you look at the Predator movies; they came there to hunt specific groups of humans but didn't expect another group to come in.

When I was a kid, I can hardly fall asleep at night for a week after watching this movie. Thinking xenomorphs might be somewhere under a buried castle out there. Imagine my relief after being made aware that this was just a figment of imagination from a grown man's head.

This is a different pyramid. The pyramid that was destroyed later in the movie took place somewhere else and was done centuries before this time. In the novel there were multiple pyramids near the one the characters discovered. That could mean that there are more queens waiting elsewhere on Antarctica.

This was actually based on the very first ALIEN VS PREDATOR comic book. The storyline of the movie set in an underground pyramid and the queen being hooked up to the device she's attached to and being forced to lay eggs. I never understood why in the ending credits, it didn't say "based on the Comic book series by dark horse comics." The executives and the producers of the movie never explained it.

Credit where it’s due, I personally don’t care for this movie when compared to all the others in both series; won’t even mention it’s awful sequel, but I gotta give props for the practical effects used in this movie. Especially in the early 2000’ when everything was just going all CGI. And yes there is cgi used in this move but it’s used in the right ways and the practical effects are used just as well. This doesn’t make the movie good to me, but it’s definitely something that deserves credit.
