It's a shame that Ridley didn't make a proper sequel to the Engineers saga. Firstly, did he explain why the sleep capsules of the other three Engineers were blown up and why only one of them survived? Why did the last Engineer die before the xenomorph was born? And what happened to this xenomorph, left completely alone on planet LV-223.

Romulus is sort of the ending of the engineer saga. It mentions prometheus.
@BookMunee4 ай бұрын
kinda holds a similar water to Ripley's situation in Alien 3 don't it? Romulus shines an effort on weyland yutani's part to use "prometheus fire" (the black goo) as a sort of "Human evolution" process to sort of advance us into planetary colonizing. Much like how we collect horseshoe crab blood. Personally, that sort of sounds like 1 of 2 things given the speech comes from a synth when delivered, 1.) we develop into underbeings similar to engineers. Accomplishing the same task. Meeting a similar fate. 2.) we are devoured by the alien pathogen as a weaker species and therefore exterminated for not fully developing on our own originally and reaching beyond the stars. (Much like it would seem to be the Engineers original plan) my take? The Predator was the one to kill the previous engineers on the LV-426 vessel and accidentally set loose the goo while killing things. But instead of finishing the job per how the predator normally does with an area bomb, they quickly left in an effort to survive and the Engineer that lived narrowly escaped the same fate of his fellow comrades climbing into his stasis pod. That Xeno at the end of Prometheus could very well be a Deacon. Which by alien lore is a founder of sorts. A white buffalo in our terminology. And with an entire planet to it's demise, I wouldn't be surprised if that made it the sole purpose for the events of Aliens (Alien 2) Ridley Scott truly leaves you wondering the What if's all to frequently.

The fact the "blue mist" forms a perfectly flat plane, makes me think it's the lighting effects of an Engineer-made sensor web- see the laser beams representing motion sensors in movies featuring "high tech security systems" in contemporary movies and TV shows- and thus technological, not biological.
@RobTutt175 ай бұрын
A couple issues I have with your points here: 1- I don’t think the life cycle of the creatures/transformations in Prometheus are as quick as it seems. The unfortunate editing choices of the movie undermined the time frame of the main story. It is stated, on the day they arrive to LV-223, that it is Christmas Day. Then, as Shaw and David are leaving the planetoid aboard the alternative Engineer ship, it is stated that’s its New Year’s Day. That means the film takes place over the course of 7 days. 2- it’s impossible for David to have been the one to ultimately create the Xenomorphs that we come across in the original series. All of the aliens we see originate from the engineer ship on LV-426. Not only is David nowhere near LV-426 by the end of Covenant, as David intended to continue on to Origae-6, but the special features of Prometheus(specifically the Weyland files) flat out say that Peter Weyland is aware of the beacon on LV-426. It was thanks to Shaw and Halloway pointing out that system for THEIR hypothesis that he was able to find it and it was one of the primary factors behind him agreeing to fund their mission. So, as stated in Alien, that ship had to of been there a very long time and that particular Engineer was in fact fossilized by the time of the first movie. Which would’ve taken a ridiculous number of years to occur.
@qvalue99825 ай бұрын
Yes but you have to take into account the atmosphere of lv-426 it's different from that of Earth so what may take thousands or millions of years on Earth to fossilize may take only a few years on an alien planet. It's not earth so we can't just pretend like everything's going to fossilize like it does here
@RobTutt175 ай бұрын
@@qvalue9982 unfortunately the logic is flawed either way we look at it because in order for something to BECOME fossilized in the first place it has to be buried under ground. So the Engineer being fossilized doesn’t make sense from an anthropology/geology perspective. But regardless it still takes many thousands(even millions) of years for environmental pressures to fossilize something. If the the environment of LV-426 was so incredibly caustic that it fossilized the engineer in 20 years or less then I can’t imagine even space suits would protect them in Alien.
@deekeenan19874 ай бұрын
Dalls only stated the space jockey was fossilised, he was looking at something he didn't understand. I don't think the derelict was there for thousands of years.

I think it’s adaptability is interesting especially in the avp/alien 3, how it’s structure takes on elements from the host it grew in. Makes it a better predator for its prey. Plus I like how avpr showed the threat of the eggs/bodies left by aliens, that they in turn create new biomass to create new eggs. Also think the idea of a xenomorph changing into a queen makes logical sense, it turns into a queen or uses the bodies to make an egg that then becomes a queen to propagate the hive. I’m hoping Romulus fleshes out some of these & hope that one day we’ll get the film set between covenant & original film to setup the derelict ship.

@AlwaysEwok5 ай бұрын
The original deacon was the one who taught them how to take that next step, possibly the creator of their species and when he died it was his blood that they used to create the black goo which can be used to breed/clone another deacon except it’s broken because it tries to kill everything which is what started the engineers experiments to try fix it. Its not clear what the creature in the wall is Mean all xenomorph like creatures have that basic elongated head shape,its just proof the engineers have a representation of an ancient xenomorph creation or creature resulting from the black goo experiment
@masterytyrantfuture4 ай бұрын
I think what we see in Prometheus/Covenant is simply a replication of the original experiments that the Engineers have already conducted. Going off the fact that the Deacon and Neomorphs look somewhat similar and have common traits with the Xenomorph, I think the black goo already has the genome of the Xenomorph contained within - David just cross-bred the variants that were produced from it, thereby perfecting it to produce the Xenomorph we know from the later Alien movies.

He takes his time with storytelling. Love how it feels like it was made in the 80s too, making the technology much like the kind in Alien&(s). I love Prometheus I honestly do, but what threw me off was how advanced the tech was. Surpassing the kind of tech in the OG movies yet it’s supposed to take place before the OG movies. Just a random flaw I noticed in the video: the echo location idea for sight. The aliens have to have some type of sight because they notice in Alien 4 when the guy puts his hand over the button @17:26 even though there is a super strong glass window/wall; I'm not sure how you missed this when you have it in your video. Echo location wouldn't work through that window. Somehow they know the guy is on the other side of the glass. Echo location also generally requires sometime of sound produced, so unless their echo location is super high or low on the frequency, you think we'd be hearing it. You could argue against this if you say they have the ability to read minds/sense other creatures close to them and their body movements through mind reading or some other type of sense. Or they have some type of super advanced echo location that goes through different mediums and returns... I think my favorite idea is they have some other type of sensing ability that isn't like one of our 5 sense. This is how the eggs work, how the facehuggers know where the face is vs going for a leg or butt or exhaust vent or hole in the wall.

@Puppy_Puppington4 ай бұрын
If I were to take a guess. The goo definitely came after the discovery/research of the xenomorph species… it is the biological weaponization of it. But I think maybe certain doses do certain things. As well as the manufactured goo acting uniquely with any dna. And maybe they have different black goo recipes. One for creating life and one for destroying it with xeno messes & dna damage mess. It’s so weird though. In covenant the bio form of black goo is a litle pollen jellyfish like micro organism. Maybe that’s the original xeno natural litle spore egg pods? But then likec maybe that’s not natural and it’s an effect from the black goo aerial pod attack that created those from pre existing botanical life. Cause then David says he used the human egg/reproductive organs or that base dna. From Shaw. To create those basement facebhugger eggs?? It seems they never decided if any of what we saw was possibly origins or copies of nature lol. They gave up
@Puppy_Puppington4 ай бұрын
So yeah. Idk if egg fungi looking spore shooters were the original natural form“eggs”. Seems like it could be. Botanical stuff is like convenient for creating medicine / bio weapons. Like goo being made from refining them or maybe even as simple as gathering them. Mashing them adding water and boiling a little. Idk. Perfect temp for it maybe? So maybe face huggers came after human DNA or engineer etc DNA reproductive organ systems were thrown in the mix?

fidk about "Royal Jelly", but from what i understand from the "Alien Vs Predator 2 (1999)" video game, any "Drone" Xenomorph can eventually become a Praetorian if it's old enough, there might be some level of "Unless there are too many Praetorians in the area already" latched onto that. After that, the Praetorian can eventually grow into a queen, either after enough time has passed, or quicker if there is no queen in the area. Think the idea in the "Alien Vs Predator 2" film was that the Predalien was rapidly morphing into a queen since it was the only / oldest Xenomorph in the area at the time, likely quickly passing through / already being in the Praetorian stage as well. Going by this, the lone alien in "Alien" would have likely morphed into a queen if given enough time too. No royal jelly needed.

Watching this felt akin to watching a scene where the character is sitting in class not paying attention to the most absolutely dull and boring professor and looks out the window instead. Friendly reminder that AV stands for Audio Visual, please don't forget the audio. EDIT: It is absolutely okay and if anything, preferred to have personality when presenting. I left to immediately go over to Wisecrack & New Rockstars at least, because the presentation style makes those channels MUCH more fulfilling and digestible. I like Aliens & Predators being linked in canon. It makes more sense that Predators created Aliens to test their young soldiers. The whole “perfect” creature thing makes no sense when all Aliens do are destroy and procreate.

Alright guys I got you. Egg/ ovimorph, facehugger, chest buster, xenomorph drone, praetorian, queen, matriarch, and queen mother. There’s the full life cycle my friends

11:50 Kill the host (like with a drug) and the facehugger leaves to search a new host. Kill/destroy the facehugger and reanimate the host.

it never made sense to me how they grow so fast from a chest burster to a full grown alien without doing a lot of feeding...

Roanoke gaming does a great breakdown of what they actually are and why they have acid blood

Right?? But it do add to the tense. Only in romulus they show a caccoon where the fully size xeno came out. So from egg - host - caccoon - tadaa. So much hussle 😂

@Bampiss same thing it did to protect it's self in space floating around. They make cocoons all the time in the films. It was born too early when they took it off, so when it got out, it cocoon itself so it could finish growing . Even Scott said this in a recent interview

Imagine David is still alive putting eggs on planets and leaving to do it again as a cycle

This is my headcanon about the life cycle and purpose of the xenomorphs: I theorize that both Engineers and Space Jockeys exist (LV-426 pilot is not an Engineer). They are servants of some kind of celestial overseers and take their orders from them. Engineers plant life on habitable planets, and Space Jockeys destroy it if necessary. Engineers' assigned planets eventually evolve sentient beings from the life seeds they plant. When that sentient species reaches a certain point, a judgment is made by the celestials. A positive judgment allows them to continue to exist; a negative judgment means their doom. Xenomorphs were created many eons ago by the celestials for use by the Space Jockeys. They are perfect killing machines, and their entire life cycle has remained unchanged. This headcanon ignores most of Prometheus and Covenant, but still keeps the Engineers. Engineers and Space Jockeys are not perfect; they can make mistakes and/or poor choices. They are also subject to the normal circumstances of existence, whether good or bad. An example of bad circumstances would be the Space Jockeys' ship crashing on LV-426.

I like this a lot, but I would include David making replicants of xenos - only to be killed by a real one himself
@mynameisjonboy5 ай бұрын
@@Abstrakt_Animations ooo, I like that! Like that scene where he’s trying to talk to one; that one would be the replicant he created-a replicant creating a replicant. But as he’s trying to communicate with it, the real one you mentioned comes up from behind him and tears him in half Bishop-style. Or something like that lol

As I understand it, the proto-xenomorphs couldn't reproduce. It was a self-limiting organism. David completed the life cycle by adding reproductive instructions (infecting a human couple) which lead to the multi-stage xenomorph we know today.

Exactly, and the truly beautiful of Covenant is explain that an Android who can't reproduce make the last step

I know it was mentioned somewhere else ….but couldn’t the engineers have communicated without speech and thereby extending their life span ….just a thought

Surpirsed you didn’t mention the intelligence of the Xenomorph when it comes to their escape seeing as in alien resurrection they attack eachother to use the blood to escape
