Didn't expect to have such strong nostalgia for this. It's incredible how much music and culture have changed since this was popular. Even the subtle mannerisms of the band tell us it's a different and less serious time.

Bands from 2001 were a lot better in 2001 than they are in 2021. I love Tool and Korn's newest albums, but neither of those bands are as good as they were in 2001. I don't think Tool could ever best Lateralus and Korn will never best Untouchables. Other bands like Disturbed and Linkin Park were also at their best during 2001.

This genre of rock was mainstream back then. It’s not so much anymore
@daldladla2 жыл бұрын
@@GoGetYourShinebox yes, I think the nostalgia and fondness we see in these comments are a yearning for popular culture and music to at least have a space for actual rock bands. It just doesn't exist anymore. Welcome to the Black Parade is the last time I remember a rock album being culturally relevant and popular and the sound being everywhere. Everything has kind of been mulched into a single genre in terms of modern popular music

@Captain Sternn they absolutely did stick around. The problem was people ONLY liked Smooth Criminal. They blew up before they developed their sound and the sound they developed was completely different from the Smooth Criminal cover. I love some of their stuff after Ant-hology. They released a single like last year I think. And when I saw them live they killed it. Dryden’s voice is really good live. They’re definitely massively underrated as can be figured out by the dislike for them in this thread.

I haven't dived too much into their catalogue but based on Anthology I would agree. Movies, Smooth Criminal, Attitude are awesome songs. The rest of the album I really didn't care for to be honest :/

Why don't bands make music like this anymore? I feel like I grew up in a special era of music we'll never get again 💓
@HYPERPEACE Жыл бұрын
They don't music like this probably because of capitalism. Music has become a business rather than an art. A lot of things have sadly. Even things as basic as food. Which is why you have all these industrialized practises towards animals that are really cruel, and the only solution is a less cruel version of what we currently have (vegan food).
