That's kind of disturbing that the wrong one was sent. Many people wouldn't know the difference. Hopefully Gotway has labeling on the box that indicates it's the high-speed version. When he gets the new wheel, let me (us) know if the box labeling says anything. A high-torque wheel requires a different motor configuration (magnets) that get in the way of high-speed. You can't have it all :-) Those are Nikola pedals, not ACM pedals. And if you buy the wheel from any company other than EWheels, it ships with the standard MSuper pedal (with the rubber inserts). EWheels has Gotway put the Nikola pedals on the wheels that Jason sells. So Gotway would never change the shell just to accommodate EWheels.
@AlienRides4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, tricky to know which model you really got I think, which is one of the reasons I think GotWay should make less modesl, but more polished ones. Good to know about the pedals. I guess the pedal magnet thing will just be feedback for Jason then :) Nice seeing you Marty.

How to "deliver torque and speed in a single package" increase the voltage. They're not there yet. Also regarding your pedals not properly fitting on the shell; that's an eWheels custom addition, the actual factory units come with the original Msuper pedals.
@AlienRides4 жыл бұрын
Gotcha, I wasn't sure about the ewheels custom addition there, but hopefully that's good feedback for them. My hunch is that they order them that way customized from GotWay, instead of doing the swaps themselves? Definitely would love to see increased voltage and watts to the motors for torque and speed.
@themystx24 жыл бұрын
Alien Rides Issue is the motors can be wound for high kv (higher top speed less torque) or low kv (lower top speed, more torque) both with their own set of pros and cons. At the 100V level there isn’t much more you can do on either side so it’ll come down to higher voltage to deliver both at speeds above 50 mph. Pedals not being a little loose folded up isn’t much of a problem but the foot space and full grip tape is more secure while riding, so it’s a fair trade off.
@AlienRides4 жыл бұрын
themystx2 yeah that makes sense. I also think about how a Rion runs around 96 volts but can reach 100mph. The motors are smaller, and I think they draw a lot more amps out of the battery.
@themystx24 жыл бұрын
Alien Rides scooters have amp limits on the controller side, gotways dont; they simply cutout when they can’t deliver the current requested. Notice some of the compromises on the Rion; there are holes in the motor cover for airflow to prevent those things from instantly burning. They basically use a Lacroix controller to deliver those 400A.

Great video. I just got my torque edition back from eWheels after it caught fire in my garage. Flames aside, once I got used to the angle of the pedals (other wheels are 18XL and V10) I’ve found the Gotway to be the easiest to turn on a dime.

Thanks for the video 👍 Beautifully shot and straight talk about the EUC warts and all. Appreciate the honest feedback and overall review. Hmmm the way gotway reused that chassis with swapped pedals scream cost cutting/cutting corners. Also the programming isn't all there. Like you said why can't they deliver a high torque high speed in one package? All it takes is an intelligent sensor to detect torque. If you on a hill it kicks into high torque. Flat ground it kicks into high speed. Thanks again and take care, stay safe 👍

Thanks for stopping by. I love EUCs and want to see increased and polish for them, well for all PEVs 😁 I’m not sure if different torque vs speed modes would work, but that would be cool. Almost like gearing.

@@AlienRides Tbh I always loved the look of EUC's. They look futuristic and unique, like if you saw someone riding by on a bicycle at 30mph+ you wouldn't do a dbl take but if someone sped by at 30mph+ on a EUC you definitely do a dbl take. As someone who tries to be green and does their daily/weekly shop with a bigass courier backpack by bike/scooter I'd like to ask how stable is it to ride an EUC with a backpack around 10-15kg? Sometimes even 20kg+?

I'd be interested to see tests between the Nikola's acceleration and the high torque MSP's. I agree with your assessment that they feel very similar in acceleration, but have to disagree about them feeling different in braking. It's an electric motor after all, it can't be better at one and worse at the other. xD

What's the difference between MSP and MSX Pro? Are they completely different wheels or are they just same wheel with different name? Looking at the specs of both they look identical to me. The high speed I get because it has different motor and bigger battery and maybe Nikola pedals.

Surprised to see the MSP pedals being held up with magnets. I Haven't taken apart my HS MSP yet to see if I have magnets in the shell, but currently my pedals are just held up by friction, which is slightly annoying lol. Also, how is the dihedral angle on the pedals? Mine shipped at 20° which was too much for me. Shaved them down to 17° Nice video
@WilliamRozear4 жыл бұрын
I think every gotway wheel for the last little bit now have used magnets to hold up the pedals. They're pretty strong though so they may feel like friction close pedals.

@@WilliamRozear I know gotway has used them for a bit, but mine are legit held up by friction lol. However, it Might have been done at ewheels when they install the nikola pedals, since the magnet clearly doesn't do great with them.

Thanks for the video! I was on Duf's livestream last night and they were talking about the fires and crashes on this EUC. Gotway QC really has me concerned. I am still working on picking up an EUC sometime over the summer but still debating on what to do. I am a complete beginner so I am not sure it makes sense to pick-up one of the suspension EUCs before spending more time on a less powerful EUC. I was thinking getting an MTen3 to continue practicing and riding on and then getting a more powerful EUC. The unique size and performance of the MTen3 would make it something I would want to keep even after I transitioned to a more powerful EUC. I also love the fact you can just throw it in a backpack if needed for those ultra portable days. I used to work in Foster City on the Gilead Sciences campus. Gilead bought that area including the building from us in 2012. You can't miss the building as it was nicknamed the "Sandcrawler" because of how it looked and that distinctive angled side. That area was like a second home for 15 years before we moved to Fremont. I used to go that sand area you rode on (i.e. "Shells") with my off-road remote control buggies, truggies and monster trucks. I would hit those jumps and get some serious air. I can see it is still a popular location for the mountain bikers. I also did a speed run on the same street you guys were using to test my Traxxas XO-1 100MPH capability. I got it to 92MPH on that street. Oh...that modified Boosted Rev you showed on Facebook was awesome. It is crazy that smoked the Panther like that. It looks like only a Rion would have any chance of beating that thing off the line.

Yeah, the fires are of a concern to me, but GotWay will figure it out I'm sure. Personally I love GotWay wheels, but this new Vetern wheel looks amazing as well.
