Hadn't thought about that shifting juxtaposition but you're right, these old movies had slow plots and quick dialogue, but nowdays it's switched. Sadly ironic the homage film ended up becoming more popular than the original that inspired it.

Love this movie, nice to see someone reacting to it. So many movies stole so many lil things from this. Thanks for reacting and sharing.

Just how would you translate a shapeshifting telepathic alien from a short story to a movie using 1950's film technology. I think for what the film maker had available at the time, the movie turned out to be fairly entertaining. I also find the Carpenter one entertaining as well since its possible to actually tell the short story better though he still didn't get the telepathic part in it. Both are each good in their own right. Also I think the Carpenter one would fit perfectly into the red scare genre even better than Hawk's. You never know if your friend has been infected with Communism. Sure they look normal but you never know...

Honestly I really love this film. The score is amazing. Call me crazy but I almost prefer this to the Carpenter version.
