So, I've seen a lot of people saying again and again, that the smartgun is weak. Is only meant for CC. Only good for tash/fodder.
Well, compared to a to an AOE heavy, which can delete 10s of runners in a single shot even on insane...does the smartgun stand any chance?

Great idea for the vid - my 2 cents - the busier and more packed together the spawns are, the more AOE will pull ahead, but Precision Rockets helps cover that side of things too. For a Lancer who doesn't have a spammable AOE ability, an AOE Heavy will have more unique value. There's also some nice explosive heavies that are something in the middle, like the Vajra and Autocannon where you can use them even when enemies are pretty close to you / your team, but still get the damage bonus of AOE. But yeah, even before the buff, people were sleeping on the smartgun. Keep preaching!

I predict the aoe heavy is better (damage-wise), but ONLY if the player can maximize it's damage with impeccable aiming. Plus you need to be hypervigilant and aware of your team members' positioning to ensure they aren't caught up in any splash damage. As for me? I'd rather play it safe and use the Smartgun with Tanker Muzzle Break to apply CC and just use the Precision rockets for AoE as they're intended.

TBH, AOEs are always a great option! High risk indeed! But very high reward too! BUT the question arises...would the smartgun keep up? would it be any good? that's what all this video is about!!

I want it to be the smartgun because that's my favorite gun aside from the plasma rifle and auto shottie... So I say the smartgun but only IF you know EXACTLY what you are doing (can lock onto those weak points), have it perked out right, AND you have access to sufficient ammo. With the lock on feature, it's the fastest gun to acquire targets and you can really clean up trash quickly, again, IF you know what you're doing. LET'S GO SMARTGUN

ma man basically said it all! definitely going for the weak spots help alot as well as, id say there's no downtime in DPS apart from the reloading time, as you're constantly moving from target to target, no time wasted there, meanind the DPS just keeps goin!!!

@@inexorablewarrior Yeah man just finished the vid... you dominated! Smartgun IS good all around... lock it onto an elite's weakpoint and you can wear them down fast. I also liked how you prioritized the spitters... as soon as one of those appeared, you were ON it constantly. Those things are friggin lethal so it's good to see somebody take them out fast, and the smartgun basically made it easy! Good run man. Keep the content coming. One of these days I gotta join you for some alien slaying!

@@captainflappinjacks597 yeah for sure like all the week so it doesn't matter what time you jump on I do play on your weekend which would be Saturday and Sunday so your time at the night would be like 8 hours to 11 hours apart from me. Also it's like Ramadan for me so we stay up all night and sunrise so that's properly gonna love me reply with you when it's night time for you, for me I am playing from my time 7:00 p.m. 23am and my time zone GMT plus 3

AoE demo has higher potential if you hold chokes but I doubt you're going to do that so the smart guns going to get it's damage down first and end up with more as a result.

Yep, that's fair! Also, I'd say game modes favor aoe more too but! Like I've been telling everyone today, it's NOT about AOEs being weak...AOEs have been strong and will remain so! However... It's about people complaining that the smartgun's weak... Which it isn't!

@@inexorablewarrior Yeah AoE is strong Vs groups aka runners - this is why any challenge card that increases runner HP you can basically steamroll with AoE builds. The smart guns ok, I think for most people they'll do more damage with it Vs runners than say the heavy pulse because the auto aim and target will react faster making the TTK lower/effective DPS higher - but the heavy pulse will be stronger for specials/elites which I think is where more people struggle.

my money is on the Smart Gun. With the new rework you now have almost Zero downtime on target selection and can go full on Scanning...Target Acquired mode and just mow enemies down. Add it with the Precision Rockets, that can fire While you are reloading, and you have effectively Zero downtime on dps. Mind you...ammo is still a thing, but at least, unlike an AoE weapon, you won't have situations where you Can't shoot an enemy. For example, an AoE weapon will murder adds, unless some Sneak up to you, OR leap from the walls into point blank range. For some reason, the adds now do Omega leaps at high speed towards you when they are coming off of walls, and they are: A. Immune to AOE weapon dmg in these frames and B. They end up Right in front of you. Therefore, you lose dps uptime because you Have to swap weapons to deal with these moments.

The devs aren’t stupid to make the smartgun weaker than others. Smartgun and pulse rifle are classic and a great one-two punch, but I am a sucker to like AOE big pretty explosions 😅
