MODERN warfare is making more and more use of DRONES. In space combat Drones with AI detailed control supervised by remote human commands, as long as any communication can be maintained, would be the optimum solution! No human life support or technology to protect a humans. Mass saving and endurance significanly improved. FYI there exist prototype COIL Rifles, that are effective but with a low muzzle. A raid gun pushes a projectile down the barrel, artillery. A Coil gun pulls a projectile down the barrel infantry. This is the future!

One of the MOST effective units the UK used in WWII, and it NEVER fire a shot in combat, was: WATU Western Approaches Tactical Unit These people Wargamed, often in real time to conter German U-Boat tatics. And developed training regimes. Thousands of UK Naval officers when though this training, including the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Unfortunately no US naval officiers attended. Buth this is now considered and example of the importance of wargaming militarily.

We have a military guy who went to these other planets to get them to treaties signed because Earth no longer has diplomats. The same guy is running our battle fleet during the most important battle in History. This same guy jumps ship in the middle of that battle and goes on a highly risky mission because Earth no longer has any Special Forces/Seals/Marines that are actually trained for that exact type of mission???? That is not how it works that is not how any of that works. Like so many of these stories you have some interesting world building mostly ruined because the writer could not be bothered to do any research at all on how the military works.
