I genuinely cried for this storytime. I love the last one: it ain't so bad being a mayfly. Gramps answered: it wasn't, indeed You maybe the biggest and brightest stars in whole galaxy but sometimes you will be dead and forgotten in some century So live your life in your fullest, people because time will be never in our side

I think immortality, or hugely expanded lifespans could be great. Maybe we could find a way to lock away older memories but leaving them accessible when purposely accessed. Then you can basically reboot yourself and start over fresh every couple centuries, while still being able to take back your old life skills and experiences when you need them.

I don't understand. Humans have short lifespans. Then they bring out an old guy. Then it turns out humans have essentially become immortal. Why do the aliens think humans have short lifespans?

I figure the more centuries you live, the less careful you’ll be. Or, the more risk you’d be willing to take. Maybe there’d be a lot of centegenerians, and most would try for bicentegenerians, but they’d live their third century a lot more riskily, and quadricenregenaiins would be rare, and semi-millennial folk might be extremely rare.

There was a polo question about having images and videos with the stories. I do like pictures, but I find they often don't match the story. For example in this case he is actually looking like a young man but the picture is an old man

Well, if there were such people that old, Christianity and other religions wouldn't exist. I mean, billions of people actually believe Jesus existed, but if you actually care to look into it, he didn't. Humanity could be so much more than it is today, religion has held us back for so damn long.

I assume that Gramps was created when the ancient scientists figured out how to stop the biological clock indefinitely, and that he may have been the first to be chosen to receive a treatment that had not yet been refined or tested on the human body whose side effects made him immune to the effects of time...

The first 10 minutes are good, and the next 5 are okay, but the end is soooo much philosophical jabbering. No matter what, most people would want to live longer. Maybe not forever, but longer. As long as they stay mentally and physically healthy (or healthy enough to still enjoy things), 200 years doesn't sound bad. Not too long ago a lot of people didn't even reach 60, now 100 isn't out of reach for a lot of us. And some people get even older than that and still enjoy life. If I had a whole galaxy to explore with all the safety and amenities this story describes - heck yes, I want those centuries!
