This story would be so much better if the heroes just barely lost the combat round, but combined with INT and DEX rounds, ending up winning the tournament. In most these stories, there is no doubt the human(s) will win, therefore, they are predicable and boring. Nice concept: man and mouse vs orc-like aliens in a tournament. Keep writing, practice makes perfect.
